The policy addresses the seventeen areas specified in the Education (Special Educational Needs)(Information)(Wales) Regulations 1999. It has as a basic principle that the needs of all pupils who may have Additional Learning Needs (ALN), either throughout or at anytime during their school career, must be addressed. It is recognised that there is a continuum of needs and that children with ALN have the right to the greatest possible access to the broad and balanced education set by the National Curriculum. The policy outlines its objectives, arrangements for co-ordinating provision of education for pupils with ALN, roles and responsibilities, special facilities and resources. A summary of any special arrangements for the admission of disabled pupils and for enabling such pupils to have access to any part of the school premises, together with particulars of any steps which have been taken to prevent disabled pupils from being treated less favourably than pupils who are not disabled can also be found within this policy. Details of promoting educational achievement of looked after children can be found within our Pupil Discipline & Good Behaviour Policy. Arrangements for making Complaints re the National Curriculum, collective worship, religious education and the curriculum in general can be found within our Complaints Procedures. Organisation of Sex Education can be found within our Sex and Relationship Education Policy. Charging and Remissions Policy which sets out what charges can and cannot be made for activities in Brecon High School can be found on the school's website. The Equal Opportunities Policy forms part of our Strategic Equality Plan and can be found on our website. The security and health and safety arrangements for pupils, staff and school premises can be found within our Health & Safety Policy.
