Reflections Journal Assignment #4: How a Firm as Syntax Could Aid In My Professional World Francis T. Harten EDD-1204 Dr. Mary De Rose Due: 06/12/13 A firm such as Syntax with its public relations experience and web site building capabilities in the extended field of education from K-12 and college would be an asset for the future development, promotion, and marketing of the Forensic Science Program, I administer here at LIU / Post. At present The Forensic Science Program is transitioning into the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences under the Chemistry Department as an avenue to booster the image and capabilities of the Chemistry Department. There are also several new initiatives I am advancing in wake of this aggressive move. Syntax could be a good fit with its extensive knowledge, understanding and connections with the Long Island regional area school districts. Most all of these school districts house and administer forensic science curriculums. It has been very difficult for myself and the internal public relations office of LIU / Post to effective reach all of these separate school districts and their individual high schools to make them aware of the extensive forensic science program LIU / Post has to offer. Syntax I see as a tremendous external public relations tool by which I could gain access to this vast potential student market. Most likely Syntax could help to better develop the college’s website on many levels but most helpful would be in how best to portray and promote the forensic sciences. Even an internet feed on popular search engines could be a possibility. No matter what the ideas Syntax or a company equal to their capabilities would be a very useful marketing tool to help increase the visibility of the Forensic Science Program here at LIU / Post.
