SAINT JAMES SCHOOL June Newsletter CONGRATULATIONS! Saint James teachers are lifelong learners, always trying to do their best. We had three RECENT SUCCESSES We are happy to report that over one third of our Saint James alumni have made it into the top of their high school graduating class. The knowledge, habits and skills gained at Saint James School are proven to be a recipe for success in high school! We will be sending home the NWEA results after all students have completed their last testing session. Preliminary results show solid growth! teachers receive their Master's Degrees this year. Cheryl Anglin, our eighth grade teacher, received her Master of Arts in Education from Ashford University in Reading Literacy. Marcy Fournier, our second grade teacher, received her Master of Education from New England College in Curriculum and Instruction and Rita Gervais, our Title One teacher, will receive her Masters of Science in Elementary Reading and Math from Walden University in June. Students will benefit from their continued education! Congratulations to all! Where did the year go? It is always bittersweet to see our eighth graders graduate. We are always so happy to see the ladies and gentlemen that they have become ready to take on the challenges of high school but we are sorry to see them go. I am so glad that they have all been accepted to the high schools to which they applied. It is their decision which high school that they attended and I know that they will continue to do well. We wish them the very best! I cannot believe that it is almost summer. If you are interested in having a summer tutor, Nancy Naimey has a list of teachers that are tutoring over the summer. Please email her. Right now, we are ending this school year and thinking ahead to the next school year. We have had many new families looking at the school and most families will be returning. There has been a renewed interest in the last couple of weeks with many tours. Please continue to spread the good news to others. Somebody will be in the office each Tuesday and Thursday from 9-12 if you need to come into school except for July 4th week. Telephone messages are also checked over the summer so feel free to leave a message. Over the summer, there will be work going on in the classrooms. All areas of the school will be cleaned and floors waxed. There are plans to refinish the floor in the gym again giving it a second coat of urethane. This will be done every two years hereafter. We will be putting up smoke seals around all the doors in the stairwells. We will be replacing the back doors of the gym. We are meeting with engineers and designers to design the plan for our sprinkler system. We are using the proceeds from the sale of Notre Dame School to put this sprinkler system in Saint James School. AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS We are exploring the idea of expanding our after school clubs next year. We would like to offer more. If you have an idea forlooked an after school club, please let us know. Would you like to run a four to six week session on an area of interest? We The school beautiful with all the spring flowers! would like to offer more opportunities for students whether it is a sports feeder program, an artistic idea, or maybe you have another great idea? Let us know! I am always open to other ideas you might have to improve the school. I appreciate those that come forward and give me their ideas. I also appreciate the sacrifices that you make to send your child to Saint James School. It is an investment in your child’s future. Saint James School is S.A.F.E.! Tell a friend! Please continue to spread the word about Saint James School to others that you know! Also, we appreciate those of you that have taken a moment to fill out an online review on websites such as Great Schools.org or Google. Many perspective families mentioned how they read the webpage and looked at online reviews before coming for a tour. If you haven’t yet done so, it definitely helps! It is the advertising of the twenty first century! Dear God, as we approach the last weeks of classes, we pray for a sense of calm in the hectic and pressured pace. May we always appreciate those who have taught us and have sacrificed so that all students at Saint James School have the privilege of receiving a great education. We have new students enrolled to our school next year and if it looks like we need more students to fill a team, we will invite others to join us. The survey showed us areas that we may need to recruit others to play but rest assured, we will have a middle school sports program. There is a lot to be learned from being on a sports team and we fully intend to offer all the same sports that we have in the past. We are also fortunate because our students get to play and they improve tremendously from the beginning of the season to the end because of this ability to play and not sitting on the bench for a good portion of the game. Our volunteer coaches do an outstanding job and we are so very grateful for the time and effort that they put into our sports teams. Thank you!
