Essay Reflection
Good writing is a bunch of different things. Good writing has good punctuation, and is
constructed well. Good writing also has good use of words, and different words that have the
same meaning. I think it also needs to be understandable. For instance, I used “said” once and I
wanted to use another word that meant the same thing, so I used “cried” instead. In my essay I
went over and checked to make sure I had all my commas and periods in the right place. Good
writing also needs to match its tile, and I did my myth so it shows how the sun and moon were
created. In conclusion my writing is a decent well written myth.
A reader would expect a few things from a well written essay. First they would expect it
to be able to make sense, with very little confusion. In my essay, I make sure that I explained
what is happening in good detail. Next they would make sure that my grammar is alright. I think
that I have made a few mistakes, like using “there” instead of “their” or a common mistake like
that, but I can easily fix and change those errors. Lastly I think that they would want a diversity
of words, a change of how I say things. Like I said before, I used “cried” instead of “said”.
Therefore, I think I did an alright job of a well written essay, but I could change a few things
here and there.
Academic effort is very important, and needs much time put into the paper. To me it
means that the writer needs to put lots of effort into his writing, and also meaning in what he is
writing. At first, when we first started the myth, I didn’t put much effort into the myth. I didn’t
even have my myth started, everyone else was ahead. However, not having the myth got me to
work harder and have it ready the next class period. After I tried hard writing my myth, I really
got into it, and I think it had some real meaning. You can really tell a difference from my hard
copy, to my polished copy. Therefore I think my effort ended pretty well, but next time I will
start and end with a good academic effort.
Understanding the essay or myth, and seeing the results are essential. I can see some
things in my myth essay that needs improvement, such as detail. You can tell what’s happening,
but it’s not the clearest, so a little more information would help see and understand better. Next
thing I could improve on next time is, using my punctuation more correctly. A lot of my
sentences had several commas, and sometimes got really confusing for the person reading the
myth. I also think thought that I could have used more characterization, especially with the
animals, and how their personality was like. All in all, I know what I can do to improve, and next
time will be an even better essay.
