Position: Laboratory Executive (Aquatics Facility Manager) Job Purpose: Comparative Medicine (CM) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support services for animal research performed at the National University of Singapore. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the aquatics facility at the Department of Biological Science. Species held at this aquatics facilty include zebrafish, medaka, lungfish, other fish species (e.g. perch, tilapia), as well amphibians and reptiles. You will be expected to supervise and provide guidance for 3 technicians. Duties and Responsibilities: - Primary duties are to supervise and manage activities (e.g. care and health of aquatic species, feeding regimes, life support systems maintenance, water quality testing, breeding etc.) required for the proper care of the aquatics species and maintenance of the various aquariums. - Understand and ensure staff follows all regulatory (NACLAR) and related standard operating procedures (SOPs). - Develop and implement SOPs related to aquatics species husbandry. - Maintain the database for fish strains at DBS as well as records and inventory for facility usage. - Maintain the water delivery and filtration system as well as facility equipment (e.g. microscopes, injection units etc.) - Assist in training technicians in routine and specialized husbandry tasks. - Set and clarify goals for staff, prioritize and coordinate daily work schedules. - Develop and maintain effective relationships with technicians, management, veterinary and research staff. - Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Requirements: - “A” level or diploma required. Bachelors degree (in Biological Science, Life Science or any related field) or above is preferred. - Must have experience working in an aquatics research facility or an aquaculture facility. Supervisory position preferred. Experience with other lab animal species a plus. - Must have experience in facilities management, biohazard containment, and data management. - Possess leadership and management skills. - Possess problem solving skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. - Lift up to 15kg. - Basic knowledge of MS outlook, Excel and Word.
