I) IMA Goa State
a) State Level CME on Epilepsy: IMA Tiswadi in collaboration with Kokilaben Ambani
Hospital, Mumbai organized a state level CME on Epilepsy, at Hotel Taj Vivanta on
Sunday 8th November 2015. It was well attended by doctors from all over Goa

IMA Local Branches:
A)
IMA Bardez Branch
1) IMA Bardez organized a CME on 27/11/15 at hotel green park on 1) laboratory investigations
in a patient with chronic urticaria 2) laboratory investigations in PUO ( pyrexia under
investigation). Speaker: Dr Nilesh Bhamare. Consultant pathologist, Metropolis Mumbai.
2) IMA BARDEZ in association with Omkar sports and cultural club Bhomwada Them Pernem
Goa conducted a medical camp at Tuem, consisting of BP, FBSL/ rbsl monitoring as well as
general check up on 15/11/2015 from 8.00 to 1.30 pm. Dr's Narayan kamat, Dr chetan
Karekar, Dr sandesh Faterpekar and Dr Veda Kerkar examined the patients. Around 120
patients took benefit of camp. Around 10 patients were newly detected for diabetes and we're
started with medicines and given necessary dietary and follow up advice. All patients who
attended camp were given free medicines.
3) IMA BARDEZ conducted free medical camp at para at GRACA DA COSTA POLYCLINIC.
Total 103 patients screened for eye by Dr Chandrakant Shetye, consulting ophthalmologist with
his team of vision eye care hospital. Dr Narayan kamat, Dr Dattaprasad Nagvenkar, Dr.Pradeep
Korgaokar also examined patients for Hb, FBSL, PPBSL etc
4) Dr Chetan Karekar from IMA Bardez gave talk on GO TV on 17/11/15 on osteoarthritis:
causes, symptomatology and prevention.
B) IMA Bicholim Branch
CME IMA BICHOLIM ON 8 /11/15, addressed by Dr Pranav Budkule , on " approach to a pt. with
acute chest pain ". He is an physician, Government, hospital, Ponda.
C) IMA CQS Branch
AAO GAON CHALEN ABHIYAN:
1) 7th November 2015
Dr. Uday Kakodkar and Dr. Bhisso Shetgaonkar conducted a Blood Sugar Estimation camp at
Collem which was attended by 64 patients.
COMMUNITY HEALTH ACTIVITIES:
1) 13th November 2015
Dr. Rahul Velip examined 15 inmates of Mother Tereza’s Home for the destitute.
Necessary treatment was given to those found sick.
2) 29th November 2015
A Diabetic Neuropathy Detection camp was held at the clinic of Dr. Deepak D. Lotliker at
Quepem in association with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. 19 patients were screened while 3
were found to have Diabetic Neuropathy and were treated.
CME:
1) 13th November 2015
Monthly meeting followed by a CME talk on “Emergencies in Cardiology” by Dr.
Sabyasachi Mukhopadyay, Interventional Cardiologist at Wokhardt Hospital was held at
IMA Hall, Curchorem.
OBSERVATION OF NATIONAL DAYS:

World Diabetes Day was observed by Dr. Deepak D. Lotliker and Dr. Rahul Velip by conducting Diabetes
Detection camps at their clinics at Quepem.
HEALTH EDUCATION ACTIVITIES:
1) 14th November 2015
Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar conducted a seminar on “Adolescent Health: Problems and
Solutions” at NSS Camp of V. M. Parulekar Higher Secondary School, Verem at Salvador do
Mundo for 100 boys and girls of Std. XIth Arts and Commerce.
2) 15th November 2015
Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar conducted a seminar on “Adolescent Health: Problems and
Solutions” at NSS Camp of MES College, Vasco held at Government School, Balli, for 60
boys and girls of Std. XIth Arts and Science.
DMC ACTIVITY:
1) 26th November 2015
Dr. Paresh Kamat gave a talk on “Use of Automatic External Defibrillator”, “CPR” and on
“First Aid” to 30 employees of Abbot Pharmaceuticals, Verna.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS:
1) Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar took over as the Head of the Department of Preventive & Social
Medicine at GMC.
2) Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar was invited to participate at the British Medical Journal South
Asia awards function at Leela Kempinski, Mumbai.
3) Dr. Ravin Rego attended the Diabetic Walk from Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to the SGPDA
market organized by the Rotary Club, Margao and Margao IMA on the 14th of November.

GENERAL HEALTH CAMP
1) School health camp- 6/11/15
IMA Mormugao along with Lions club of Cansaulim-Majorda
conducted a free health camp for the pre primary students of Our
Lady of Assumption School Velsao. 87 Students were examined by Dr
Rajesh Patil, Dr Uma Kamat, Dr Vidhya Sardessai and Dr Parag Sawant.

HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME
1) Community Health education talk- 1/11/15
IMA Mormugao along with Alcoholics Anonymous conducted a talk on alcohol
and drug abuse. The talk was given by Dr Rajesh Patil at Ilhas de Rachol chapel and
was attended by 80 people.
2) Community health education Talk- 15/11/15
Alcoholic anonymous conducted a talk on alcohol and drug abuse at Betul. Dr
Rajesh Patil gave a power point presentation to 70 villagers.

SCHOOL HEALTH EDUCATION
1) School health education talk-2/11/15
Dr Rajesh Patil gave a talk on alcohol and drug abuse to 180 higher secondary
students of vidhyaprobhidini high school, Porvorim on 2/11/15
2) School health education- 2/11/15
IMA Mormugao in association with Alcoholic anonymous conducted a talk on
alcohol and drug abuse at Dnyanprasarak Mandal High secondary school. Dr
Rajesh Patil presented to 280 students in 2 batches.
3) Alcohol and Drug deaddiction talk- 9/11/15
IMA Mormugao conducted a talk at Quelossim for St Xaviers college NSS camp
on 9/11/15. Dr Rajesh Patil presentes a slide show on alcohol and drug abuse to 65
students

1) First aid and emergency Talk- 9/11/15
Dr Vinayak Buvaji delivered a talk on first aid and disaster management in
emergency situation at the NSS camp of St Xavier college at Quelossim on
9/11/15. Dr Rajesh Patil also gave a talk on first aid. A total of 65 students attended

2)- Peaceful Society
18/11/15: : Monthly Health camp for children and women attended by 31 patients . Dr.Purnima examined
the patients and guided the mothers on hygiene importance of regular nail cutting etc .One case of failure
to thrive with ? ASD was taken up for investigation. Deworming medicines and medicines were given for
specific health problems mostly respiratory infections.
Menopausal women were given calcium and iron was given for the anaemic.
3)- Mobile clinic of Snehamandir :
17/11/15 ---At Priola Ponda ….56 patients attended.

Other Community activities:
4).18/10/15:Dr.Rajesh Bhat conducted eye camp with ophthalmic assistant Sandeep Kerkar organised by
Lion’s Club of Ponda at Undir,Bandora,Ponda .Around 155 patients were examined and about 50 patients
were selected for free cataract surgery to be operated at Dr.Rajesh Bhat’s hospital-Drishti Eye
Hospital,Upper Bazaar,Ponda-Goa
5).31/10/15:Health awareness programme was held at Lokmanya Tilak Higher Secondary
School,Kavlem,Ponda for the students.blood Grouping was done by Dr.Vallabh Dhaimodker and
Counselling and Lecture was given by Dr.Purnima Usgaonker.It was attended by 195 students.
6).01/11/15: IMA Ponda in association with Ponda Municipality had organised a general health check up
camp for the employees of Ponda Municipality exclusively at Ponda Municipality hall.Around 170 patients
were examined and appropriate patients were subjected to RBSL and Vit D level examination sponsored by
Pharma companies.Also people needing Hb examination were referred to Patholab,Ponda(Prop:Dr.Roque
D’costa) which was done free of cost.The doctors who participated were Dr.Roque D’costa ,Dr.Dattaram
Desai,Dr.Vandana Patankar,Dr.Santosh Usgaonker,Dr.Purnima Usgaonker,Dr.Laxmikant Naik,Dr.Sudha
Vaidya,Dr.Purva Sahakari,Dr.Amey Kamat, and Dr.Sandeep Naik.Mukta Opticians proprietor Mr.Kishore
provided with Optometrists who did free eye check up for appropriate patients at the camp.
7).06/11/15: First Aid Training to First Responders was held for Police,Traffic Cell and Fire Dept. by IMA
Ponda at IMA Hall,Disaster Management Cell in association with Dhavali Sarvajanik Charitable Trust.
G) IMA Tiswadi Branch
1. State Level CME on Epilepsy: IMA Tiswadi in collaboration with Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Mumbai
organized a state level CME on Epilepsy, at Hotel Taj Vivanta on Sunday 8th November 2015. The following
sessions were held:
Approach to a Patient with epilepsy- Dr. Pradnya Gadgil, Paediatric Neurologist, KDA Hospital, Mumbai
Looking Beyond seizure Control- Dr. Jayanti Mani, Consultant Neurologist, DKA Hospital, Mumbai
Surgery for Epilepsy- Dr. Abhaya Kumar, Consultant Neurosurgeon, DKA Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Ponraj sunderam, Prof & Head, Dept of Neurosurgery, Goa Medical College and Dr. AA Bandodkar,
consulting Physician, panjim chaired the sessions.
Dr. Rufino Monteiro along with the chairholders of IMA Goa State & Tiswadi at the inaugural function of the Epilepsy CME
The CME was attended by 92 doctors all over Goa and accredited with TWO CME Hours by the Goa Medical
Council.
2. CME on Prostate: Monthly meeting of IMA Tiswadi was held at Hotel Mandovi on 27th November 2015. The
following CME lectures were conducted:
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy- Dr. U.N. Manjunath, consultant Urologist, Manipal Goa Hospital.
Prostate Ultrasound and Ultrasound guided Biopsy- Dr. Ravindra Revonkar,Consultant Radiologist, Manipal
Goa Hospital.
The CME was attended by 77 IMA Tiswadi members and awarded ONE CME Credit by the Goa Medical
Council.

3. IMA Goa Chess Tournament: The First ever IMA Goa chess Tournament was held at Hotel Alua on Sunday
29th November 2015. Dr. Pankaj Chari (IMA Tiswadi) won the First place by securing 4 points out of 5. Dr.
Rajdutt Timble (IMA Ponda) and Dr. Umesh Kamat (IMA Tiswadi) shared the second place by securing 3.5
points each. Dr. Amey kamat (Ponda), Dr. Nilesh Talwadkar (Tiswadi) and Dr. Swapnil Usgaonkar (Tiswadi)
also participated in the tournament.
Dr. Anand Dalvi, Hon Secretary, IMA Tiswadi distributed the prizes.

4. General Health camp: In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Panjim, a general Health Campm was
organized at Panjim Muncipal market on Sunday 29th November 2015. A total of 163 patients attended the
camp. Free blood sugar estimation, ECG, optometry was provided. Health examination was conducted by Dr.
Srikant Bhobe, Dr. Sitakant Ghanecar and Dr. Anita Velingkar. State President Dr. Prasad Netravalkar and Dr.
Anand Dalvi coordinated the camp. The camp received valuable help from the students of the MBBS 3rd
semester.

5. Bone Mineral Density camp: Free BMD Camp was held at Sharada mandir School on 14th November 2015.
The camp was attended by 129 teachers and support staff of the school. Dr. Mrs. Hemangini shah, IMA
tiswadi member coordinated the camp.

6. Diabetes Awareness Activity: on the pretext of world Diabetes Day Dr. Umesh S kamat and Dr. Kedar Raikar
addressed 44 Anganwadi workers of the Tiswadi block. Dr kedar Raikar simplified the pathophysiology and
clinical aspects of the disease while Dr. umesh kamat emphasized the importance of timely screening for the
disease and also the role of diet and exercise in the management of diabetes.

7. World Filaria Day: on 11th November 2015 Dr. Umesh Kamat conducted a health education session for
construction labourers at merces on Prevention of vector borne Diseases, with special emphasis on Filaria.

8. Health talk on Food Safety: As a continuation of activities under the World Health day theme 2015- Food
safety from farm to Plate, Dr. Umesh Kamat conducted a health awareness on basic principles of Foof
hygiene among the staff of Cremaux bakery on 7th November 2015. The five keys to food hygiene- Keep
clean, do not mix cooked and raw food, cook thouroughly, store at adequate temperature, and use of safe
raw materials were emphasized.

9. Occupational safety and First aid awareness: The staff of Real Soda Factory, corlim were oriented regarding
the principles of occupational safety and hygiene which they need to adhere to in course of their work.
Considering the high instances of injury due to broken glass pieces at the factory, the workers were told
about the first aid measures in case of injury with glass pieces. The talk was followed by the Question answer
session.

Special achievement:
Dr. Amit Dias attended the WHO Guideline Development Group meeting and developed a new
programme for Integrated Care of Older people (ICO) at WHO headquarters at Geneva on 24 th to
26th November 2015
