Anticoagulation Service Changes
RLBUHT in Collaboration with Community Health
In March 2014 Royal Liverpool Broadgreen University Hospital Trust in collaboration with Liverpool Community
Health, were named as the preferred provider by Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group for delivery of
Anticoagulant service across Liverpool.
The commencement date is 1st July 2014, initially for 3 years but may be extended for a further 2 years.
The service will be community based delivered closer to the patients home at delegated surgeries/NHS premises
via finger prick testing. Testing and dosing will be carried out the same day in a face to face consultation. Where a
patient is unable to travel to a clinic alternative arrangements will be made of an equivalent standard. Flexibility
will be built into the service to meet the requirements of patients identified through the on-going patient
consultation
Over 7000 patients to be treated in the community setting. So far 21 locations been identified as potential clinics.
