For Release: Monday, September 29, 2014 Baojun 610 Excels in 2014 GM China Consumer FuelSaving Challenge WEIFANG – The second leg of the 2014 GM China Consumer Fuel-Saving Challenge visited Weifang, Shandong, on September 27. Eleven owners of Baojun 610 equipped with 1.5-liter engines and manual transmissions traveled 104 km to find out who could achieve the best fuel efficiency. They set off from the Weifang Guangwei Auto Park, driving along urban expressways, city streets and rural roads to the Laizhou Dajishan Forest Park. The champion, Mr. Ren Bo, had fuel economy of 4.6 liters/100 km. The average fuel economy of all participants was 4.9 liters/100 km. Both Baojun 610 owners and potential customers were invited to participate. During the GM China Fuel-Saving Mini Academy, owners received training on how to save fuel in their daily commutes through an onsite driving simulation. Potential customers experienced the Baojun 610 on a closed track, where they saw how it performs on bumpy roads, wet and slippery driving conditions and an S-curve, as well as in emergency braking situations. The five-seat Baojun 610 from SAIC-GM-Wuling has segment-leading exterior dimensions along with a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. It also has impressive cargo space of 360L. The Baojun 610 is powered by GM’s 1.5L P-TEC DVVT engine, which generates maximum output of 82 kW and maximum torque of 146.5 Nm. The secondgeneration GF6 transmission, which is also found in the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick Regal, offers smooth gear changing for peak driving pleasure. In addition, the model comes with Electric Power Steering. The system supports improved fuel economy and lower levels of noise, vibration and harshness. It is also easier to operate than conventional manual steering systems. The annual GM China Consumer Fuel-Saving Challenge began in 2011. It was created to demonstrate how GM is addressing demand for high fuel efficiency through the products it builds and sells across China. Under the theme of “Use Less Fuel, Have More Fun,” this year’s event is showcasing the fuel economy of products from the Buick, Chevrolet and Baojun brands at its three stops across China.
