How do I register for spring semester classes?
Registration instructions were distributed through campus mail on Thursday, October 31. Check your
Campus Center mailbox for several pages stapled together—the top page will be orange color. Go to
the Registrar’s Office, main floor of the Campus Center (next to Admissions) if you don’t find your
registration instructions in your mailbox.

How do I know which classes to take to complete my requirements?
If you received a hard-copy Curriculum Outline with your registration materials, use that page to
monitor your requirements.
If your registration materials included a green page of instructions with the subject Your Advising
Worksheet, follow those instructions to access your online Worksheet. The Worksheet shows you how
the courses you have taken and are taking now will apply toward your requirements, and will identify
the courses you still need to take to complete your degree.
First-year students: use the printed Worksheet you received in a recent Transitions class meeting for
this registration.
Your academic advisor will help you determine which courses are best to take for spring 2014.
***************************************************************************
I forget my advisor’s name. How can I find out who my advisor is?
You can find your advisor’s name and contact information on the Academics Home Page on myEMU.
***************************************************************************
What do I need to do to get ready to meet with my advisor?
See the page called “Preparing for your Advising Session” in the Information section of the Academics
Home Page on myEMU.
***************************************************************************
I have a good idea of what courses to take for my major, but I don’t know how to choose courses
for the EMU Core curriculum. Where can I get help with this?
You’ll find a “Guide to the EMU Core Curriculum” in the Information section of the Academics Home
Page on myEMU. It will explain the course options and provide suggestions as to when different
courses are best taken.
***************************************************************************
I’ve met with my advisor and have listed the courses I want to take on my orange registration form.
When can I actually register for my classes, and how do I do so?
Instructions to register through myEMU, including a timeline showing who can register when, are
printed on the reverse side of your orange registration form. The instructions are also available in the
Information section of the Academics Home Page on myEMU.
If you are registering for the first time after Thanksgiving break, follow the instructions in the
Information section of the Academics Home Page on myEMU under the title “How to Register Courses
through myEMU.”

When I try to register, I get a message that I have a “hold” from the Student Accounts Office or the
Health Center. What does this mean?
Student Accounts hold: you may not register for spring semester classes until you have paid your fall
semester expenses to a certain level. Go to the Student Accounts Office, first floor of the campus
Center near the Post Office, and learn what your options are to work with your account.
Health Center hold: all students must submit certain health forms related to immunizations, etc., for
their own protection and for the protection of others around them. Go to the Wellness Center, near
the Student Life offices on the top floor of the University Commons, to find out what you need to do.
****************************************************************************
I plan to participate in a spring semester varsity sport. How does this affect my course scheduling?
You will receive (or have already received) from the Athletics department an information page telling
when you will need to miss classes due to athletic events. The information page is also available in
the Information section of the Academics Home Page on myEMU.
Share this with your advisor and choose courses that will require the least absences.
Remember that you must not miss class due to athletic practices.
