Capital University Fraternity and Sorority Life
Standards of Excellence
Continually transforming lives through higher education for those affiliated with a social fraternity or sorority is the primary purpose
of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Standards of Excellence program ensures our fraternities and sororities and the members
involved are being engaged and living fraternal values.
Procedures
 The evaluation covers a calendar year (January/beginning of spring semester to December/end of fall semester).
 This form and documentation are due as designated by the Office of Student and Community Engagement in electronic form
 If the data provided by chapters is in question, the chapter can be asked to provide additional documentation.
 The evaluations are done in various committees comprised of the Rho Omicron Chapter of Order of Omega and overseen by the
Assistant Director of Student and Community Engagement with the assistance from the Director of Student and Community
Engagement.
Scoring and Rubric
The Standards of Excellence program’s purpose is two-fold: institutional accreditation and an awards document. This program has
specific standards, rules, and regulations to be abided in holding social fraternities and sororities’ active status. Each category is
weighted which affects the outcome of an organization’s score. The weight per category is:
Civic Engagement: 45%
Policy Compliance: up to -50%
Chapter Operations: 35%
Membership: 20%
The scoring established reflects the accreditation and awards portion of the program. The top levels (i.e. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and
Bronze) are set to recognize organizations with outstanding success. Other levels (i.e. Recognized, Unsatisfactory, and Suspension)
are established to include formal chapter warning, probation, and suspension statuses. These levels require formal recommendations
from the Rho Omicron Chapter of Order of Omega to professional staff members of the Office of Student and Community
Engagement in order to enable future organizational success. Scoring levels and percentages are:
Platinum: 95%; only one fraternity and/or one sorority will be awarded
Gold: 90%
Silver: 80%
Bronze: 70%
Recognized: 60%
Unsatisfactory: 59.99%-50.1%
Suspension: 50% or lower
