Summary of Role
The Project Officer, Learning Improvement Secondary Learners works as part of a team to
provide state-wide leadership and expertise in evidence based, high quality and measureable
teaching and learning improvement for learners in the secondary years. They will bring
specific knowledge and expertise to the Secondary Learners team and work collaboratively to
develop a comprehensive and coherent approach to improvement. The Project Officer,
Learning Improvement Secondary Learners will utilise effective education practice supported
by evidence agreed with the Strategic Design directorate.
The Project Officer will work with leaders to design and deliver programs to lift student
achievement. They will work with the Professional Practice group and leaders to deliver
professional learning aimed at building consistently effective practice across sites. They will
work intensively with sites requiring additional support to reach the Standard of Educational
Achievement. They will work collaboratively with their colleagues within Primary Learners
and across Early Years Learners and Secondary Learners directorates to build coherent
approaches to improvement across the levels of education supporting strong learner
transitions.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be either currently registered or able to be registered to teach in South
Australia.

If not permanent with DECD, applicants must meet DECD minimum employment
requirements before taking up an appointment.
Minimum DECD employment requirements for teachers include recognised teaching
qualifications and registration as a teacher in South Australia and, in addition, for all
applicants who are not permanent teachers with DECD will include an active on-line
application in the Employable Teacher Register (ETR), a cleared DECD Employment
Declaration, Australian residency or current work permit, Reporting Abuse and Neglect
training (previously known as Mandatory Notification), and an approved First Aid Certificate.
