The first two weeks of the festival coincide with the school holidays so the activities in these weeks are aimed at getting children away from the telly or computer and using their creativity instead. We have knitting lessons, sculpture sessions, jewellery, illustration, writing, Zumba, painting and lots more. For mums, dads and carers we have weekly meditation sessions.” said Angela Beardsley, Festival organiser. “ The second two weeks have more for adults, there are sessions for all ages and interests and if you have never tried any creativity before and just want to meet people, then get in touch. We want people to come along to Resonate and try something new or perhaps revisit an activity, such as painting, that they haven’t done for a while. There are lots of studies that show being creative can improve your wellbeing and happiness levels, we all deserve to have happiness in our lives”. Page 2 of 9 The Happiness Festival is being launched with a Mad Hatters Tea Party on Sunday 1st April. This fun filled free event runs from 2 – 4pm at Resonate Arts House, Alloa and includes lots of Mad Hatter themed activities that will give people a taste of all the arts, crafts and wellbeing events planned for the rest of the month. Adults and children are welcome to come along and have a go. The activities on offer include: Mad Pots – Bring along an old teapot and learn how to do fabric decoupage. Turning it into a fantastic plant or secret sweety holder! Graffitti Cups- Using porcelain pens and your artistic skills bring along an old teacup and saucer for a graffiti remake. Top Hats – Paper craft a top hat ideal to hide your favourite tasty cupcake in! Flamingo Lake- An Arts Performance Piece by Jen and Grant for all to enjoy! Wonderland Jewellery – Make yourself an Alice in Wonderland inspired piece of jewellery. Along with this there’ll be lots of other fun and games and The Maddest Hat Competition. For age 7+ 2 – 3.30 From tip to ship Competition : Making Boats is brilliant fun and this project is for a National Competition that we will all enter from this session, plus you keep your boat!! For age 5+ 6 – 7.30 Well Being : This session provides an alternative therapy taster to support your wellbeing energy. From choirs to knitting circles, amateur dramatics groups to painting clubs – local arts and crafts groups in the Clackmannanshire area are invited to attend a free event to learn how to encourage more people to take part in their activities. Run by Voluntary Arts Scotland, Make a Splash! is an information and training event aimed at any organisation which takes part in the arts for the love of it, and would like more people to join them.
