Prerequisite: MAC 2311 & MAC 2312 Calculus & Analytic Geometry I & II with C or better. Topics covered are Three Dimensional Analytic Geometry and Vectors, Partial Derivatives Multiple Integrals and Vector Analysis. Educational Materials: Calculus – Multivariable, 6th edition by McCallum, Hughes-Hallett, Gleason Attendance: Regular attendance and class participation are significant factors that promote success in this course. Students are expected to attend every class and be punctual. Students are responsible for all class materials and any announcement made in class whether or not you are present. You may be withdrawn if you miss more than 5 class meetings. WITHDRAWAL: Per Valencia Policy 4-07 (Academic Progress, Course Attendance and Grades, and Withdrawals), a student who withdraws from class before the established deadline for a particular term will receive a grade of “W”. A student is not permitted to withdraw after the withdrawal deadline. A faculty member MAY withdraw a student up to the beginning of the final exam period for violation of the class attendance policy. A student who is withdrawn by faculty for violation of the class attendance policy will receive a grade of “W”. Any student who withdraws or is withdrawn from a class during a third or subsequent attempt in the same course will be assigned a grade of “F”. Homework Homework problems will be assigned at the end of each class meeting. Completion of homework is crucial to the student’s success in this course. Homework problems must be worked in a dedicated notebook neatly and in order. To be successful in the class it is important to spend considerable amount of time working the homework assignment before attending the next class period. Failure to do so will result in you falling behind. It is highly suggested that you discuss ideas and homework with other students. Homework will not be collected. Evaluation There will be 3 in class tests and a comprehensive final. All tests are comprehensive with emphasis of the most recently completed material. There will be quizzes. The final grade will be assigned as follows: - 3 Tests –100 points each (total of 300 points) - Final test (Comprehensive) – 100 points - Quizzes – 100 points Percentage of total points cumulated 90% - 100% 80% - 89%: 70 % - 79% 60% - 69% 59% or less Grade “A” “B” “C” “D” “F” Make-up No make-up test will be given. If a (one) test is missed because of an accepted reason such as a medical emergency (subject to instructor’s approval), your final exam grade will be used in place of the missed test score. Otherwise, no test’s score replaces no other test’s score. Honesty: Cheating involves representing someone else’s work as your own. This is unacceptable behavior. Such incidents will be handled according to the College’s Academic Honestly Policy (6Hx28:10-16, 6Hx28:10-3). NOTE: Students with disabilities who qualify for academic accommodations must provide a letter from the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) and discuss specific needs with the professor during the first week of class.
