Upcoming Events January 14th 100th Day of School Celebration January 19th MLK Jr. Day NO SCHOOL Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful Winter Break. February 10th Next week, we will begin a series of assessments to determine how Learning Party much growth in Math and Language Arts our scholars have made Fun with Vocabulary since the beginning of the year. Please make sure that your scholar attends school every day and arrives to school on time. We are excited to see the progress our scholars have made! Be on the lookout for the results to go home sometime in February. Now that the weather is getting colder, please be reminded that our female scholars may not wear leggings. Girls are permitted to wear socks and tights of any color/pattern. Also, long sleeve and colored undershirts are not permitted. Plain white t-shirts are the only undershirt permissible per the Tindley Dress Code. Monday, January 19th is a Non-Student Day in observance of MLK Jr. day Important Announcement Tindley Summit is now enrolling scholars for the 2015-16 school year! If you know any families who are interested in having their child attend Summit, please spread the word! Remembernext year we will be serving scholars in grades K-4. Academic Excellence, climbing to the top…Motivated, educated and we’ll never stop! Teacher Spotlight on….Ms. Massey Chantel Massey originates from Indianapolis, Indiana. Ms. Massey is a former Tindley scholar! After graduating from Tindley Accelerated, Massey went on to receive her B.A in English from The College of Wooster in May of 2013. She focused on African American literature and theory. Since graduation, she has worked with children in IPS and with the Peace Learning Center in order to improve the quality of children’s education and life skills. She aspires to be a social justice activist for children’s education. Fun Things to Do on a Snow Day 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Use dry erase markers to draw on your windows or sliding glass door. Make vegetable soup – have the kids help you chop and stir. Draw pictures and write letters to friends and family who are out of town. Have your kids put on a play – give them a prompt for the story (fairytale, action heroes, etc…) and record their final product.. Make bird feeders by covering an empty toilet paper roll with peanut butter and rolling in bird seed and then slide it over a branch. Pull out finger paints and make artwork using finger and hand prints. Go through your kids’ toys (with your kiddos) and help them pick out a box of items to donate. Cut out snowflakes and tape them to the windows. Play “I Spy” around the house or looking out the window. Make a list of things you want to do in the summer, daydreaming about what to do once the weather gets warm.
