Date: Nov 21st 2015 (Saturday) 2.00pm Venue: PALM GARDEN HOTEL, IOI RESORT CITY,PUTRA JAYA Synopsis Globally, breast and gynaecological (ovarian, endometrial, cervix) cancers are the top 10 most common cancers affecting women. Awareness of these cancers are low let alone how to prevent and screen for them. Great progress has been made over the last decade in terms of prevention and screening of these cancers. High profile cases such as Angelina Jolie performing prophylactic surgery to remove healthy breasts and ovaries in order to prevent cancer have raised many questions among women (‘Angelina effect’). This talk covers the updates on the genetics of breast and gynaecological cancers, it’s impact on women and screening for these common cancers among women. Short Biography Professor Woo Yin Ling is a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist in a teaching hospital and also holds the position of director of an immune therapeutics laboratory. Professor Woo has won many distinguished international awards including the Gold Medal by the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for her specialist examinations and the Gordon Hamilton Fairley Cancer Research UK Fellowship. Professor Woo is now part of a multidisciplinary team involved in cancer service provision and collaborative research.
