CVAA Membership Engagement: System Capacity Building Programme Conference Brochure December 10/11th, 2015 UPDATE The Define Phase of the SCB Programme was concluded in October and the following headlines were presented to DfE: Workforce Work Stream The Define Phase focused on two main strands providing further insight: 1) To provide and develop the use of tools that would enable agencies to plan for the future and/or collaborate with one another by a common structure. 2) To provide some direct input to capacity building of the workforce, knowing the constraints faced by agencies trying to invest in workforce development in a downturned market. Impact Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Programme delivered by Hay Group Outputs: 80 places taken up during the course of the SWP programme. Key Topics document including presentation, findings and bespoke Workforce planning tools (Workbook and RACI chart) shared with all VAAs. Outcomes: Increased understanding of SWP principles and application to VAA sector agencies including: supply and demand, gap analysis and workforce strategy development. Skills Development (PAR, Panel Admin, Therapeutic and Life Story Book work) Outputs: 7 courses delivered; 300+ new staff identified since 2012 in frontline services, administration and management. Outcomes: Baseline skills developed in nearly 15% of sector staff. Customer Work Stream The Define Phase focused on two main strands providing further insight: 1) To define and test propositions for a distinctive VAA sector market position based on learning and common themes sector-wide e.g. Quality, Inclusion and Engagement. 2) To support the distinctive position via coproduction, customer care training and capacity building for staff. Mystery Shopping and Customer Care Training Outputs: Mystery shopping completed with 28 VAA branches. Customer training completed: 70% participation; 21 VAAs Outcomes: Benchmark of 65% of VAAs achieving a combined score of >70%. Living action plans for each participating agency. Position for testing Outputs: 6 Propositions clearly articulated. #thereforyou pitch taken forward. 4 Position Hub meetings to take the proposition forward; representing 8 agencies. Outcomes: Sector-wide understanding, identification and support for the proposition. Building capacity and peer-to-peer networks. Adopter Coproduction Outputs: 276 surveys completed by adopters representing 16 agencies. 52 adopters engaged with focus group work. Outcomes: Clear picture of the types and levels of adopter partnership working that exists between VAAs and adopters. DEVELOP and DELIVER Phases A plan of activity was submitted to DfE for the upcoming phases, aimed at meeting the evolving needs of the sector and specific objectives.
