Severna Park High School
A $4,000 collegiate scholarship is being given to one boys’ varsity basketball player and one
varsity wrestling team player at Severna Park High School for the 2013 season. The intent of
this scholarship is to acknowledge and reward two students-athletes along with the teachers
and coaches who selflessly give their time, energy and support to ensure the success of these
students. The qualifications for this scholarship are as follows:

Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0

Must be a graduating senior at Severna Park High School and meet the Anne
Arundel County criteria for school residency.

Must be a member in good standing of the boys’ varsity basketball team or
varsity wrestling team at Severna Park High School. In addition to players,
team participants such as team managers and team statisticians are also
eligible. Students who have participated in men’s/women’s junior varsity
and/or varsity lacrosse are ineligible to apply.

Applicant must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and personal
character, and overcome personal and/or physical challenges in order to
participate in sports.

Applicant must submit a completed written application and statement of
his/her particular qualifications for this award, including financial need.

Applicant must have at least two letters of recommendation, of which at
least one must be from an academic source such as a coach, or guidance
counselor (cannot be related to the applicant).
The scholarship funds may only be used for tuition, fees and books at institutions of higher
education (accredited two or four year public or private colleges, universities, or
professional/technical schools). Monies will be paid directly to the institution. *A scholarship
recipient who completes his first year in good standing will receive another scholarship of the
same amount. The recipient must contact the Community Foundation and provide a copy of
their transcript and confirmation of their registration for the following academic year in order to
receive the second scholarship.
In the event the recipient does not use the funds at the selected college or university, the funds
are to be returned to the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County.
