Want to increase your skills to make yourself more valuable to your current or prospective employer? Enroll now in the
in the Florida TRADE Manufacturing Essentials course and upon successful completion of 5 modules
and 4 assessments over the course of 80 hours you can earn your MSSC Certified Production
Technician (CPT) certification, a nationally recognized certificate that can be used for employment
across all manufacturing sectors.
The courses are available delivered live remotely over the internet.
All you need is a stable, fast internet connection and a headset with
microphone.
Classes run 2 nights for 10 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 9:30 pm
starting April 1, 2014 through June 5, 2014. MSSC assessments will be given at
Broward College – North Campus 1000 Coconut Creek Blvd., Coconut Creek, FL 33066. The regular cost of this course is
$1395, but thanks to federal community-based job training grant funding for the TRADE initiative, the cost is $549 per
participant.
Course content includes:

Unit 1: Workplace Essentials - Provides training on essential
workplace skills needed in the manufacturing community to sustain
the day-to-day success of their organizations.

Unit 2: Safety Awareness - Provides baseline knowledge and skills
needed to maintain a safe and productive work environment and
ensure the safe use of equipment in the workplace.

Unit 3: Production and Processes - Develops existing knowledge and
skills needed for the production of products to meet customer needs
while ensuring the manufacturing process meets business
requirements.

Unit 4: Maintenance Awareness - Provides the core knowledge of
preventive maintenance and enhances existing skills in the identification and performance of equipment maintenance used
in the production process.

Unit 5: Quality Assurance – Enhances existing knowledge and skills needed to maintain quality and implement continuous
improvement processes, and ensure that product and process variances meet quality standards.
As you move through the course, you take the MSSC assessment for that topic. When you pass the assessment, a
Certificate of Recognition from MSSC is provided. When you pass all 4 key assessments you achieve the MSSC CPT
Certification.
Upon achieving the CPT certification, you have the potential to become a more valuable and productive employee.
Additionally, you earn 15 credit hours toward an Associates’ Degree in Engineering Technology at Broward College as
well as other Florida colleges that offer the program!

To be eligible for Florida TRADE training funds, each trainee must:
– Enroll in Florida TRADE and provide the following support documentation:
• Signed Florida TRADE Application and General Release
• Copy of Driver’s License
• Copy of Social Security Card
• Evidence of US Citizenship, Permanent Resident Card, or other documentation confirming
ability to work in US AND
– Obtain a Silver Level on Florida Ready-to-Work OR
– Meet one of the criteria listed below:
• Applicant is currently or been in college program in past year or has earned a college
degree.
• Applicant is employed in manufacturing industry or has earned one of the Manufacturer
Institute’s recognized Certifications. (MSSC, AWS, NIMS, etc.)
• Applicant is a US Military Veteran with a technical military background with a discharge date
of less than two years.
• Applicant has taken the TABE test and has scored a minimum or better score in each of the
following areas: Applied Mathematics – 8th-9th grade; Reading for Information – 9th grade;
Locating Information – 8th-9th grade.
