Important Things to Know to be Successful Together:
 School Rules: All school rules and expectations are enforced during rehearsals and performances.
Please note that volunteers who monitor the dressing rooms and backstage reserve the right to
enforce school rules as needed under the guidance of Ms. Wells. Students are expected to follow
directions made by volunteers unless otherwise directed by an administrator or Ms. Wells.
 Transportation: Parents/guardians are responsible for the transportation of his/her child before
and after the performance as well as the pick-up of their child at the end of rehearsal each day.
Please arrive on-time or early to pick up your child.
 Attendance: Dancers must be present for attendance at the start and end of
rehearsal/performances every day (Monday thru Saturday). This will have an impact on your
grade. Be sure you are marked present from start to finish! Arriving late or leaving early will result
in points off of your grade. If you are not present during attendance, points will be deducted off
of your performance grade. No exceptions!
 Homework: Bring your homework to rehearsal. You may find yourself with some down time. You
can use that time to silently do homework, stretch, read, etcetera. During down time, you should
be silently studying in the audience of the theater unless otherwise instructed. Please use your
time wisely.
 Food and Drinks: You are expected to provide your own food and drinks every day. Bring only
drinks that have a screw on cap. You must clean up after yourself! Food and drinks should be
kept outside of the dressing room and auditorium at all times. Write your name on your
lunchboxes or food/drink items. Food/drinks can be consumed in the auditorium lobby Monday
through Wednesday and in the hallway outside of the dressing rooms Thursday through Saturday.

 Organization: For dress rehearsals as well as the day of the performance, bring a big box, bag or
bin to put all of your belongings in. All of your personal items should stay in this container unless
it is in your hands or on your body. This will help you to keep the dressing room in order and to
prevent you from losing any of your belongings.
 Costumes: On the day of the performance, if you forget to bring ANY part of your costume, you
will not go on stage for that dance. If you have holes in your tights or shoes/socks, you will not go
on stage. This will result in major points off of your grade. Treat your costume with utmost
delicacy. No eating or drinking in costumes (unless it is water). Fold the costumes nicely back into
your container. Take good care of your costumes. Also, any costume that belongs to the school
needs to be hung back up where it belongs after its use. This costume does NOT go home as it
belongs to LEHS. You are in charge of your specific costume (number on the tag). If it is lost or
damaged you will be responsible for paying to replace it.
 Props: You will find a table in the hallway for dance props. This includes hair ribbons. If your
dance uses props, it is important to gather these items when it is time to get ready for that dance.
Once you are finished with these items, they must immediately be returned to the prop table.
 Dressing Rooms: Only performers and approved adults are allowed in the dressing rooms. No
friends or family are permitted in this area unless they are signed up with Ms. Wells to be a
volunteer. No food or drink is allowed in dressing rooms. No pictures in the dressing room. The
noise level must be kept to a minimum. Help each other as needed.
 Backstage:
o No one should be watching the show on the side of the stage unless they are preparing to
make an entrance.
o There is absolutely no talking backstage. The only time it is okay to talk is if it is truly
significant to the success of the performance, and in this case, it is at a low whisper. The
audience can hear you!
o Entering and exiting the backstage area: Please use the backstage door on stage right to
enter and exit from the dressing room hallway. Always stay to the right side of the hallway
and through the doorways. Be prepared in your costume backstage with your group at
least one number in advance (or as soon as possible). Wait until all performers in your
dance are in line backstage before entering the stage area. One person for each dance will
need to communicate to the backstage manager when everyone is ready to go.
 Notes: During the last few minutes of rehearsal each day, we will gather together for “Notes.”
This will typically be an opportunity to address overall issues that need to be fixed for the
performance to run smoothly. If students have questions or suggestions, they may be written on
a piece of paper with their name on it, so that Ms. Wells can address it.
 Clean-up: At the end of each day, every student must first do their part to clean up the auditorium
and/or dressing room before leaving to go home. All trash needs to be thrown away and all
belongings need to be accounted for. Nothing should be left in the dressing room overnight.
 Front of House: Before and during the show do not enter the front of house. If you ever do, never
wear your costume up front. You must dress nicely to appear in this area.
