MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit, train, deploy and support volunteers in West Cumbria
for NCI partners, evaluating, promoting and marketing volunteer services and volunteering
opportunities. This will include infrastructure, evaluation progress and monitoring delivery,
promotion and marketing volunteer services and volunteering opportunities.
Volunteer management responsibilities:
 Understand the NCI business plan and underpinning volunteer strategy
 Understand the need of all NCI partners
 Seek opportunities to deploy volunteers across all areas of West Cumbria, and to
empower them to seek opportunities for themselves.
 Recruit, support and develop new volunteers to support the needs of people who access
NCI services, activities and initiatives.
 Liaison with all NCI West Cumbria services to understand how they work and what
volunteering requirements are needed.
 Recruit volunteers and ensuring they are appropriately matched and introduced to the
correct partner
 Ensure volunteers are able to receive appropriate training and development opportunities
 Evaluate progress through formal & informal volunteer and partnership feedback
 Ensure best practice is observed at all times in respect of volunteering
 Keep informed about trends in volunteering
 Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and ensure there are role descriptions
based on the needs of the organisation.
 Raise partners and staff awareness of the role and function of volunteers.
Marketing:
 Nominate volunteers for awards & recognition as appropriate in line with partner
agreements
 Promote and market volunteer services to potential users, and volunteering opportunities
to potential volunteers
 Update website, and other networking sites with volunteering news and information
 Give presentations about volunteering opportunities to external organisations
 Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity
strategies and campaigns.
 Develop volunteer involvement in marketing of the organisation and volunteer services
Partnership work:
 Work with Heads of Services and other UK Volunteer coordinators as appropriate to
ensure a coordinated approach to Volunteer services occurs
 Contribute to the effective flow of information within the organisation
 Prepare reports as appropriate for internal and external purpose
 Any other duties of a similar nature as may be required
