of the Russian Historical Society for 2015
We are glad to invite experts on military and socio-economic history, cultural and everyday life
history, history of religious denominations and ideologies in the Great Patriotic War (scholars,
researchers of museums, archives or libraries, teachers of history) to participate in the international
forum. Currently, the participation in the forum has been announced by scholars of Belarus, Armenia,
Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Serbia, France, Poland, and China.
The forum is expected to hold round tables on studying and forming of historical memory
(which all the participants are to participate in), the second day assumes the work of the sections of the
International Conference and summarizing, the cultural program is supposed on the third day. The
conference is held concurrently with the library international event "Book on the war and about the
war" combining a historical and research area – the study of culture during the war, as well as
exhibitions of books published during the war and about the war at the modern stage.
Prospective scientific program
March 30, 2015 – arrival of participants
March 31, 2015 – opening of the forum “The Great Patriotic War: History and Historical
memory in Russia and abroad” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
9.00–10.00 – grand opening of exhibitions of the State Public Historical Library, Tula Regional
Universal Scientific Library, the State Archive of the Tula Oblast, Russian publishing houses
(“Nauka”, “Prosveshchenie”, “Drofa” et al.).
10.00–11.00 – registration of participants
11.00– 11.30 – opening, welcome to the forum participants
11.30–13.00 – the first session
“History of the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War: Approaches, Current State and
Perspectives of Modern Researches.”
At the plenary session reports will be made by:
– Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of History V.P. Kozlov;
– Leading researcher of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of
History Ye.S. Senyavskaya;
– Rector of the State Academic University for the Humanities, Doctor of History D.V. Fomin-Nilov;
– Director of the State Public Historical Library, member of the Council of the Russian Historical
Society, Candidate of History M.D. Afanasiev.
13.10–14.20 – lunch.
14.30–16.30 – the second session
“Historical memory about the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War”
(“round tables” on topics)
- “Representation of the Great Patriotic War in contemporary cultural space”
Museums’ and educational institutions’ researchers, librarians, and scholars participate in the “round
table”. During the meeting they discuss issues of material collecting and implementation of projects
related to the expositional and exhibitional activities in museums, libraries and educational institutions
on the forum’s topic.
- “Internet information resources in the process of historical memory formation”
Museums’ and educational institutions’ researchers, librarians, and scholars take part in the “round
table”. At the meeting there will be presented projects of the information resources of the State Public
Historical Library, the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defence, the Central Naval Archive, the State
Archive of the Russian Federation and others on the history of the Great Patriotic War.
- “War through the eyes of children”
Museums’ and educational institutions’ researchers, librarians, and scholars participate in the “round
table”. At the meeting they will discuss issues of conservation and formation of the source base,
publishing projects on representation of the children of war’s evidences, as well as on the study and the
formation of concepts of post-war and contemporary generations of schoolchildren on the Great
Patriotic War and the Second World War, and projects of the war "oral history" accumulation will be
presented.
- “Memorial images of war and peace in modern culture”
Museums’ and educational institutions’ researchers, librarians, and scholars take part in the “round
table”. At the meeting there will be discussed mechanisms for the conservation and development of
new memorial monuments, as well as the study of images of war and peace in the Russian art and
literature.
- “Formation of knowledge on the history of the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War
in modern educational space”
Museums’ and educational institutions’ researchers, librarians, and scholars participate in the “round
table”. The meeting participants will discuss the problem of the content of textbooks, educational
technologies and methods of the war history teaching, curricular and extracurricular activities.
16.40–17.40 – summarizing the Forum results.
April 1, 2015

resource studies, methods of historical research”;
• “Military Economy: regulation, dynamics, effects and consequences”;
• “Authorities and society: problems of interaction and mutual influence during the war”;
• “Military daily routine in the rear and at the front”;
• “Peoples and religious denominations of Russia in the Great Patriotic War”;
• “Ideology and culture during the War”;
• “Anti-Hitler coalition: ideology, cooperation, contradictions, and results”;
• “The Great Patriotic War in the regional dimension: history and historical memory”.
15.30–16.30 – summarizing the International Conference results.

Working languages are Russian, English.
The deadline for submission of applications for participation in the conference and thesis
for publication is February 28, 2015.
If you are interested in taking part in the Forum, you need to register in electronic form
(available at http://tsput.ru/pobeda70/to select a “roundtable” (site) of the Forum which you are going
to attend and topic of report, as well as a section of the conference and to enclose thesis up to 1 page in
which you should describe the scientific problem, sources, historiography, methodology and methods
used in the research, the main findings.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right for the selection of applications. Texts are not
reviewed; denials are not motivated. Following consideration of the theses, authors will be notified of
materials acceptance for publication. All conference participants will receive the individual letter of
invitation and the final version of the program from the Organizing Committee by e-mail up to
March 5, 2015. The deadline to send articles for publication is March 30, 2015.
Registration fee for participation in the forum is 1,800 rubles (cost includes coffee break,
excursions, and handouts). Accommodation, boarding and transport charges are at the expense of the
sending party.

Requirements for the text of article
Following the conference, the collection of scientific papers will be published. To be accepted for
publishing, the text should meet the following requirements: a word processing file using MS
Word (.doc) (version no later than 2010) up to 1 printed page (up to 40,000 characters), font – Times
New Roman, size 14 (for footnotes – 12), line spacing single, all margins – 2.5 cm. The first line
indent – 1.25, is automatically set. The text should be edited and proofread. Footnotes are automatic
endnotes in Russian and in transliteration, according to National State Standard (GOST).
The abstract is attached to the article in Russian and in English (to be published with the article).
Annotation scheme: 1) the author, title of the article; 2) The purpose of the article; 3) description of the
problem field; list of the main issues raised in the article; 4) keywords (less than 10 words). The
volume is no more than 700-800 characters including spaces. List of references is placed at the end of
the text in Russian and in transliteration.
Please: when arranging texts, do not type the title using mode Caps Lock, do not use styles MS
Word, do not set the indent tabs or spaces, do not use special fonts.
The cost of publication is 270 rubles per page. Payment is made to the TSPU account (bank
details and a copy of the payment order given below) marked: ЗА УЧАСТИЕ В ФОРУМЕ.
