GENETIC DISORDER POWERPOINT:
REQUIREMENTS
As a young scientist, you have learned and mastered the basic principles of
inheritance. This includes modes of inheritance (i.e. dominant versus
recessive traits), how a person’s genotype determines their phenotype, how to
use the Punnett Square to predict the possibility of producing offspring with
certain traits, as well as how genetic disorders are caused. For this unit, you
and a partner will “inherit” a certain genetic disorder. You will research the
answer to some required questions and teach your peers about the disorder
by making a powerpoint.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to improve your research skills
and understand the nature of a particular genetic disorder. Through
this project you will be able to develop your research skills and
further demonstrate your understanding of genetics as covered in
your science class.

Learning Expectations:
 Students will be able to apply what they have learned in genetics and the
definition of genetic disorders to deepen their understanding of various aspects
of a specific genetic disorder.
 Students will perform the necessary internet research on their assigned genetic
disorder to create an 8-10 slide powerpoint presentation to share with the class.
