Job Advertisement: HR Business Partner Peju Province Winery is a progressive family owned and operated winery located in the heart of Napa Valley, Farming organically and sustainably, our estate-grown fruit develops into wines that exhibit a graceful pairing of power and elegance. This newly created position is an opportunity for a development and growth-oriented human resource practitioner to partner with the business and help in the day-to-day planning and implementation of HR programs. Working closely with the functional managers, the HR Business Partner thinks beyond transactions and puts business and guest experience objectives on top of mind as he/she implements HR activities for the Company. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The HR Business Partner supports the HR Leader in the day to day activities for employee benefits, labor law compliance, employee life cycle (onboarding, career growth, retention, and off boarding), standard administration of HR function in recruiting, benefits implementation, compensation survey, employees and HR files upkeep/ accuracy, and continuous update of policies and procedures. It is imperative that the HR Business Partner understands the business, the Company values and philosophies and be able to articulate these to the employees through partnership with the various departments and executing on their needs within the bounds of Company objectives/principles. Employee Relations & Programs and HR Administration: • Keep abreast of all developments in State and Federal employment laws. Immediately update employee handbook and policy for changes that impact employees as prescribed by Department of Labor and other labor related agencies. • Counsel managers on labor law updates, processes, and approach to employees' various situations. Advocate compliance from a business perspective to maintain objectivity and pragmatic decision-making without exuding a control stance that drives away employees to cooperate. • Provide support to managers and/or employees to enhance professional relationship; bring new perspective in performance review and performance improvement plan. • Continuous research on techniques in keeping employees motivated through implementation of employee programs. Assist in counseling employees and managers on career development and training needs. • Help assess training needs of all employees and find tools to answer immediate needs. • Provide support or propel employee events in coordination with the Experience Team. • Assess programs valuable to employees and aligned to the Company values and overall culture. • Continuous update of the Employee Handbook and the HR Department Processes and Procedures. Employee Safety: • Ensure that all programs designed and implemented by the Safety and Emergency Committee are properly documented, scheduled, and applied to all members of the organization: Winery offices, Production, Vineyard, and Tasting Room & Events. • Establish and maintain a standard calendar of safety procedures and a reference manual to be accessible to all employees in collaboration with the Safety and Emergency Committee. • In the absence of the Safety and Emergency Committee Leader, preside in all meetings and set future agenda depending on agreed upon priorities of the committee. • Complete all checklists of compliance requirements for safety. Establish communication requirements in coordination with the Safety & Emergency Committee. This dynamic role will fit best candidates with the following qualities: • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Psychology, Social Psychology, Anthropology, Organization Development or Business and/or equivalent skills and experience. • Minimum four years' experience as an HR Generalist/Business Partner. • SPHR certification is a plus. • Experience in the hospitality, beverage/spirits, or agriculture industries. • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with sense of priority. • Ability to meet assigned deadlines. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to build and enhance internal and external customer relationships. • Ability to solve problems in a creative manner. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. • Ability to learn new systems and procedures and understand Payroll and HRIS. • Process driven with a creative mind in providing solutions to challenges.
