Board Member Descriptions
The Communications committee is central to developing awareness and engagement in Chicago Club events, serving as
the fulcrum for Club connection to alumni. Key areas of support include:



Identification of appropriate social and electronic media channels to reach into new and existing alumni,
including students.
Working with the Office of Advancement to leverage school resources and create synergistic communications
execution.
Overseeing a club calendar of events as a management tool for synergy within and across clubs as well as with
Kellogg.
The Community Relations committee provides opportunities for Kellogg Alumni to serve the Chicago community in
which they live and work. The committee will seek to develop programs in three key areas:

Establish a robust nonprofit board connection to link Kellogg alumnus with appropriate nonprofit board
opportunities.

Develop opportunities to leverage alumni skills and interests for community outreach projects including the
annual Kellogg Cares event that is run by current students.

Raise awareness of the existing philanthropic activities of our alumni and help support the many worthwhile
organizations in our community.
The Engagement Committee is responsible for keeping a dynamic connection with both students and alumni to get
involved with the Club steering committee. Key areas of support include:



Identification of potential alums to support Club events, planning and advisory committees.
Developing and executing a strategy to solicit alumni interest as well and help integrate interested alums into
planning committees.
Playing a visible role at Club events to solicit participation on the Board.
The Metrics Committee is responsible for helping the Club develop an understanding of the needs of alumni through
information capture and analysis. Key areas of support include:




Research of Chicago area alumni needs and recommendation of drive programming.
Develops a segmentation analysis to drive club planning.
Creating and analyzing event feedback to evaluate event success
Coordination with the Office of Advancement to analyze alumni demographic and needs data to identify
opportunities for engagement

The Partnership Committee is responsible for establishing and building a relationship with other alumni clubs and
professional organizations.

Acts as a liaison between KACC and the NU Club of Chicago, KACC-West, MBA Alliance, Chicago Booth, Kellogg
Executive Women's Network, Kellogg Black Alumni Club, Kellogg Alumni Real Estate Club and the Kellogg Alumni
Private Equity Club. The committee also supports student groups getting engaged with the club.

Identifies opportunities for cross promotion of events to enhance the networking opportunities and attendance
at KACC events.
The Professional Development committee is responsible for planning and execution of events that advance the
professional expertise of Chicago area Kellogg Alumni through organized learning and networking opportunities.

Develops a calendar of events to support Club segmentation strategy to appeal to different alumni interests for
specific industries and interests (Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Technology, Health Care, Finance and Private
Equity).

Plans and executes segmented events coordinating with metric and membership committees.

Develops strategy and execution of keystone events that bring together industry leaders and academic experts
with Kellogg Alumni interested in the field, and presenting educational opportunities to enhance skills and
provide insights into emerging business theory and practice.
The Secretary is responsible for internal reporting and recordkeeping for the club.


Taking minutes at board meetings and then sending out final draft minutes to the board in a timely manner.
Working with the leadership team and committee heads to develop board meeting agenda.
The Social Committee is responsible for event planning and execution which provides networking and collegial
interaction with alums.



Develops a calendar of events to support Club segmentation strategy to appeal to different alumni interests for
engagement.
Plans and executes segmented events coordinating with metric and membership committees.
Develops strategy and execution of keystone events including The Purple Tie Affair to deepen ongoing ties with
the school.
