Susquehanna Valley American Association of Critical Care Nurses Nursing Educational Scholarship Policy and Procedure, 2012-2013 Purpose: To encourage chapter member participation. Points will be collected for different activities and members will be eligible for nursing educational scholarships on the basis of points earned. I. II. III. General Information A. All funds awarded from the Susquehanna Valley Chapter AACN are awarded only to chapter members and are non-transferrable between chapter members. The applicant must have been a National and Local member for 1 year prior to receiving funds. B. The applicant must apply with a specific program. Such program must be content related to the development of expertise in critical care nursing. This would include NTI, Trends, Challenges in Critical Care. C. The name of the reward recipient will be published on the chapter website. D. For fiscal year 2012-2013, applicants shall submit by June 1, 2013 with fund distribution by June 30, 2013. Guidelines. A. Points may be accrued for 1 year only. a. Maximum points accruable per year will be 45. b. Points must be redeemed during the fiscal year immediately following accumulation. The Board of Directors may grant an exception to this guideline. c. The fiscal year is July 1 through June 30. B. Points may be used in total An application for a scholarship or reimbursement with receipts must be submitted with each request. C. Points may not be used to pay membership dues to either local or national AACN or any other professional organization. Point Redemption A. Points will be redeemable at $10 per point with the highest redeemable value of $450 for 45 points. If the sum total of the applications exceeds 25% of the Chapter treasury, the Board of Directors will decide the dollar value of the points. B. Applications for Scholarship must be requested one month prior to appropriating monies. Application should be submitted to the Scholarship Chairperson for review with supportive documentation. C. Chapter-sponsored attendance at Leadership Development Workshop for president-elect and/or treasurer elect are not eligible for reimbursement. C. Point Accumulation Description Points A. Treasurer elect 10 5. Board of Directors (attends more than 50% of meets) 10 6. Education coordinator 14 7. Committee chair 10 G. Guest speaker for AACN Program 5 per hour H. Facebook/website coordinator 10 I. Committee participation 4 J. Challenges planning committee (attends more than 50% of meets) 4 K. Newsletter editor 10 L.
