All candidates must answer all 4 questions. Your answer for question 1 should have between 300-400 words.
Your answers for questions 2-4 should have between 200-250 words. Please type your responses in Microsoft
Word on a separate document and save it as [Last Name, Essays]. Include the questions you are answering. Attach the
document to the e-mail along with your application.

Focused Interest Communities
Each living area (Bluff, Cougar Village, Evergreen, Prairie, and Woodland) houses several different Focused Interest
Communities (FICs). At this time, University Housing has not determined where each FIC will be located. University
Housing encourages you to consider these as possibilities when applying for the RA position. To learn more about these
options, review the Focused Interest Communities Descriptions.

As part of the application, you are required to submit at least two Reference Forms. Your references may include (but
are not limited to) faculty members, academic advisors, current or former employers, coaches, administrators, high school
counselors, teachers, or elected organization leaders. One of the references must be a member of the SIUE community.
Community Directors and Assistant Community Directors are ineligible to complete Reference Forms unless they have
served as your supervisor in a paid position. If you choose to have your Resident Assistant fill out a Reference Form,
you must submit two Reference Forms IN ADDITION to the form from the Resident Assistant.
The Reference Forms which can be downloaded from the website should be completed and sent
electronically to applyforra@siue.edu by the specific deadline listed below. The forms will only be accepted
electronically via e-mail to applyforra@siue.edu. It is your responsibility to ensure that the completed references
