Your notes might include title, author, and short descriptions of setting, characters, conflict, climax, resolution, and theme/main idea. In September, you will complete at least two writing assignments based on your summer reading. 8th Grade Reading: Beginning in the fall both eighth grade English and history classes will discuss what it means to be an American. In social studies you will begin exploring this question with a study of the American Revolutionary War. Chains little easier and follows a female protagonist; its content deals with both slavery and the Revolutionary War. Mo Brother Sam is Dead is also a little easier and follows two male protagonists. In the fall, you will be tested on your understanding of the plot, characters, and themes of whichever book you choose. You should take notes using the notes template which can be found on MOODLE.
