Maribyrnong wins at Parks and Leisure Australia (Vic/Tas) 2015 Awards of

This was a hotly contested category with entrants from
Moreland, Maroondah, Warrnambool and Wyndham City
Councils.
Our winning entry was for the ‘Maribyrnong/Moonee Valley
Community Cricket Cup Event’ held earlier this year at McIvor
Reserve.
Maribyrnong partnered with Moonee Valley City Council and a number of community partners to run the event that
attracted over 500 participants.
Our entry will now automatically be submitted into the Parks and Leisure Australia National Awards being held in
Sydney this October.
Cricket Under Lights –
A Footscray ANA First
Hard work pays off for
Druids!
Footscray ANA Cricket Club held a Family Day with a
twist at Angliss Reserve on March 1.
The Club put together an intra-club tournament
which featured 6 teams of 7 players a side.
Each team played 6 overs per innings and 2 round
robin games each before a Club first took place with a
Grand Final played under lights – even using zing bails
that light up when struck.
The day was extremely successful for the Club and
enjoyed by all in attendance!

momentum with the Club fielding an u11 team

The team, which is based at Shorten Reserve and
plays matches at nearby Footscray West Primary
School, has come together over the past two
seasons as part of the Clubs growing focus on
their junior program.
The Club looks forward to continuing their
success in 2015/16 with a new U13’s team and

Does your Club have a healthy Club Culture?
The Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) has launched a new advertising campaign that encourages parents to consider
what habits their children are learning at their sports club. The campaign uses powerful imagery of kids mimicking
behaviours observed around their club and encourages parents to choose a club involved in the Good Sports
program.
