through government and other key international organizations to secure and protect the right
of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.
Overall Job Purpose
The main function of this position is to ensure that WaterAid Tanzania is fully compliant with
all different Donor rules and regulations. You will support and work with key budget holders
to ensure that all grant funded projects implementation and reporting are in compliance with
donor regulations and requirements.
The Grants and Compliance Programme Coordinator has expert knowledge on individual donor
requirements and you will serve as the key advisor on all donor compliances. Together with
the Senior Programme Coordinator Fundraising & Grants Management, you will facilitate,
submit, negotiate and manage grants, contracts and Memorandum of Understandings.
Key Accountabilities:













Ensure full compliance with WAT minimum operating standards for grant management
and implement processes for grant management, proposal development in the Country
Programme, equitable to cost recovery, grants closes out and sub-grant management
when required
Work with Budget Holders and the Finance Team to monitor all grant budgets to
ensure compliance with donor requirements; review budget realignments and Partner
funds requests; and also monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with budgets.
Organise and participate in grant / start-ups opening, mid-term review and closure
meetings and develop, with support of the Senior Management Team.
Act as a central point of organisational expertise on donor compliance requirements,
ensuring that relevant staffs of all directorates are informed of donor requirements;
work closely with all directorates to ensure compliance.
Maintain and manage the grant filing and retrieval system to ensure that it provides
easy and immediate access to information on these grants at country programme level.
This will also involve maintaining a reporting tracking system to ensure that
responsible staff are aware of upcoming deadlines
Working with the Programme Coordinators M & E conduct internal audits of grants
processes and protocols to advise Budget Holders on compliance levels in different
partner organisations over grants management
Coordinate cross-programme grant management and reporting arrangements, acting as
the lead person setting plans and organizing meetings. Ensure key donors compliance
checklists are available, provide orientation to Budget Holders and follow up the
implementation
Maintain communication with all budget holders and project managers to ensure
timely receipt of required reports and documentation in accordance with regulations
and the terms and conditions of individual donor / grant awards.
Review and communicate grants expiration dates, altered timeframes, milestones, and
major changes in budgets and activities to appropriate staff (Program, Finance, etc.)
Review grants reports and communications with donors and stakeholders for accuracy
and compliance prior to submission.
Ensure that donor reports meet requirements and contracts and that they are of a high
standard and submitted on time.

Education and aptitude:
 A bachelor’s degree in either a Business Administration with a Finance bias or a
degree in marketing coupled with a post graduate diploma in public relations or
related field to the organization.
 Specialized training in development project proposal research, and report writing
(preferred)
Job related experience and knowledge:

three to four years experience with a proven track record of Grants
management and prior experience with fundraising campaigns, major donors, or
events with any reputed national/ international / donor agency.

Ability to perform sophisticated financial analysis based on knowledge of the principles
and practices of non-for-profit accounting, including direct responsibility managing
large restricted grants.

