STUDENT ORIENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Directions: once student placement is confirmed (i.e. Step 1) with the Learning Resources (LR) Student Placement
Coordinator, students complete the Student Orientation Requirements as directed below. NOTE: there are additional requirements for Nursing and OR experiences.
To access these Orientation materials and other important information you need to know, go to our website: www.gwinnettmedicalcenter.org

Programs and Classes tab at the top of page;
2.
Student Experiences on the drop down menu;
3.
On the Student Experience Website, click on the links as directed below in each section.
All Students --Click on “Step 2: DRUG SCREEN AND BACKGROUND”
Select the method as directed by your school. If unsure, consult with the LR Coordinator.
Recommended Vendor: www.advantagestudents.com.
(Drug screen/ background check must be completed AND results reviewed by GMC LR Department PRIOR to the student’s start date!)

Picture ID/Parking Badge
BADGES &
to Obtain
ID from the school REQUIRED and GMC Picture ID/
PARKING ACCESS Badge REQUIRED at all times.
1.
Complete the ID/Badge form attached to this document.
2.
You will need a current picture of yourself saved as a “jpeg”. If you do not have such a picture, you will need to arrange to have your picture taken by our
Security team.

Once you complete the form and picture requirement, you will be instructed to submit these to either your instructor or the GMC student placement coordinator; and whether you need to pick up your badge at Security or if your instructor will.
4.
Students pay $10 for the badge and when returned at the end of the experience $5 is returned. The cost to replace a lost badge is $25.
5.
The badge will give you access to parking and the units. Security asks that you park in Employee
Parking.
*If you need your picture taken for your badge, you can arrange a time with Security. Monday- Thursday,
7:30am-4:00pm, Friday, 7:30-1:00pm. Before coming to have a badge made or to pick a badge up, please call
678-312-4057 or email Matt Shafer, mshafer@gwinnettmedicalcenter.org , and let him know what time you will be coming.

Picture ID CARD ACCESS CONTROL
Student Directions: Complete this form and give it to your instructor along with a $10 deposit and an electronic picture* of yourself to submit for a GMC Student Picture ID badge. ($5 is refunded upon return of your badge.) If your instructor is not coming on campus follow #1below for instructor badges.
Instructor:

For your Instructor badge : submit this completed form and an electronic picture* of yourself to the Student
Placement Coordinator in Learning Resources (LR), lhorst@gwinnettmedicalcenter.org
. These documents will then be forwarded by LR to the Public Safety Office and you can arrange a time to pick up your badge at the Safety Office.
Instructor Badges are free.
2.
For your Student Badges: Once you have been authorized by LR to pick up student badges, please submit the student completed forms and electronic pictures* (JPEG format is preferable) to the Public Safety Office at Gwinnett
Medical Center mshafer@gwinnettmedicalcenter.org
; and let them know when you would like to pick up the badge/s. Be sure to bring a $10 cash deposit for each student badge. (When you return the student badges to the
Public Safety Office they will refund you $5 for each student badge returned.)
*If an instructor or student needs a picture made, call 678-312-4057 to arrange a time for the picture to be taken. If any badge is lost there is a $25 replacement fee.
