(Lab not graded) TOTAL GROUP LAB POINTS OUT OF A MAXIMUM OF 20 POINTS Directions: Your Points Each student must start the lab working in a group of 4 or 5 students, or as designated by instructor. Most labs will be started in class, but will need to be finished outside of class. Neatness and college level work are expected and represent part of your lab score. Answers for lab reports must be typed out between the lab questions, unless instructed differently by instructor. You will be able to find symbols such as , x, X , and by inserting an object with Microsoft Equation or by from a search with google. Numbers and shading for graphs may be done by hand, but must be very NEAT. Turn in only one lab per group. If more than one lab is turned in, only the first lab turned in will be graded. Cover Sheet(s): Both of these grading pages should be stapled as the front page(s) of your lab report. Type in the Chapter number, Class Time and ALL group members with full names listed Last Name, First Name, correctly spelled. YOU MUST TURN IN LAB REPORTS ON TIME!!! Your lab report must be turned in on the front desk by the official start of class. No late papers accepted. You can turn in labs early! No class time is provided for lab work on the due date. Prepare in advance! Don’t wait until the last minute to organize or staple your lab reports and risk missing the deadline at the start of class. It is your responsibility to hand in the lab in order to get it stapled together before class. (Carry a small stapler in case you need to staple at the last minute!) Do not request that a late lab be accepted as each Lab member should be come with their own completed lab to turn in for the group! Labs WHICH ARE NOT STAPLED WILL NOT BE GRADED! THE GROUP WILL RECEIVE A “0” FOR THE LAB IF ANY MEMBER OF THE GROUP WORKS ON THE LAB IN CLASS DURING CLASSTIME NOT PROVIDED FOR LAB WORK. Group Lab Guidelines: Group work means that EACH student works on and is familiar with all parts of the lab. Group work does not mean that the work is divided up so that each student does only part of the lab and nobody understands the lab as a whole. No “spectators.” Everyone needs to participate in with all components of the lab. Each student should write up the whole lab. The group should communicate and get together well before the due date to compare writeups, discuss discrepancies, make corrections and select the best write-up to submit. Do not count on only one person to bring and turn in the group lab on time. Because each student in the group is responsible for fully completing the entire lab and bringing it to class by the due date, there should be several copies of the lab available to hand in on the due date. This means that any one of the members could turn in his or her lab as the group lab, if necessary. (This way, you are not left hanging unprepared if your lab partner does not show up with the report on time. Sometimes, students are absent or have dropped the class without informing the other group members or the instructor If, after working seriously, with a group for a particular lab, a student finds that a lab member is not contributing or that they cannot work well with the group or cannot agree with the group’s work or conclusions, the student should speak to the instructor and may work on his own, but only after informing each member of the group that he will be leaving the group so the group does not count on that student’s participation. You may only make such a change and work on your own if you let the instructor know you wish to leave a group at least two days before the day the lab is due.
