Program Catalog Document and Degree Requirements List
Spring, 2012
This document incorporates the PNC General Education Core-30 as well as the General
Education Supplemental Core categories. The Secondary Education Program in Life Science
does not meet the state expectation of 120 credits for baccalaureate degrees at this point because
of the NCATE Accreditation and teaching licensure requirements. The Secondary Education:
Life Science program curriculum has been changed in following the changes of the PNC Biology
major curriculum in the spring of 2012. The modification to the degree plan is presented as
follows:


Explicitly identify two original humanities/social science elective courses as General
Education courses including ENGL 20100 The Nature of Literary Study or ENGL 20500
Introduction to Creative Writing or ENGL 23100 Introduction to Literature; PSY 12000
Elementary Psychology or SOC 10000 Introductory Sociology.
Follow the change of the Biology curriculum as of April 2012, and replace BIOL 11600
Laboratory in Biology I and BIOL 11800 Laboratory in Biology II, the two 1-credit
laboratory courses to BIOL 14500 Introduction to the Biology Laboratory, a 2-credit hour
course.
