STEPHEN CALLOWAY, RPH
Mr. Calloway received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy
and has worked in various aspects of pharmaceutical services since that time, including management
responsibilities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to providing direct pharmaceutical
services and management, Mr. Calloway serves on several committees and boards related to health care,
including Missouri Health Connection, the MOHITECH Advisory Board, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, MO
HealthNet Prior Authorization Committee, among others. He is also a member of the American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists and the Missouri Chapter of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP).
SCOTT GRIFFITH
Scott Griffith is the owner and Principal Collaborator of Scott Griffith Collaborative Solutions, LLC. Scott
gained his reputation for world-class collaborative skills through success in working with high-consequence
industries across the globe. He initially came to prominence in the field of aviation, and is widely recognized
as the father of the airline industry’s Aviation Safety Action Programs (ASAP). Scott holds a Master of Science
degree in Physics from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Physics from Texas
Christian University. In addition, Scott has twenty-five years of experience at American Airlines – the world’s
largest airline – first as an international captain, then as the Managing Director of Corporate Safety and
Quality Evaluations.
MICHAEL HANDLER, MD
As Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer at SSM St. Joseph West, Dr. Handler serves as liaison between the
organized medical staff and administration, which advances the clinical practice of medicine for the campus.
He also serves as the physician advisor to case management. Additionally, Dr. Handler serves as the Medical
Director for the Center for Patient Safety. Dr. Handler has been a physician in the state of Missouri since
1985. He operated a private Obstetrics and Gynecology practice in Kirkwood and Wildwood from 1989
through 2007. Dr. Handler also served as house obstetric physician for SSM St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood
(SJHK) since 2001. Additionally, he spent two years serving as SJHK’s medical director for quality
improvement, during which time he implemented numerous successful quality and patient safety
improvement initiatives. Dr. Handler earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City
School of Medicine. From 1984 to 1989, he completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and
Gynecology at St. Louis University Hospitals. He is pursuing a Master of Medical Management from Tulane
University.

DIANE HOLLIS, RN, MHA
Ms. Hollis is the Corporate Director of Clinical Excellence and Informatics at SSM Healthcare. She has worked
as a registered nurse in several capacities including: telemetry unit, ER, CCU, interventional radiology and the
cath lab. In 2006, she began working in the area of builder for MacLab (a cath lab documentation and
software program). She moved into the role of Clinical Decision Support Analyst working to build the clinical
decision support rules for SSM’s EHR. She coordinated standardization and implementation of the cath lab
order sets in the EHR, and developed standardized tools for clinical decision support related to VTE
prophylaxis. She is currently Director of a team responsible for all Clinical Decision Support in SSM’s EHR. She
is also responsible for all Clinical Quality Measure built for Eligible Hospital and Eligible Professionals for
Meaningful Use.
MICHAEL LEONARD, MD
Dr. Leonard, a founder of Safe & Reliable Healthcare, is a cardiac anesthesiologist by training, who spent 20
years with Kaiser Permanente, both in the Colorado region as a practicing clinician and leader, and 10 years
as the National Physician Leader for Patient Safety across the Kaiser system. In 1999, he helped Kaiser forge
a collaborative relationship with Dr. Robert Helmreich’s Human Factors Research Project, which was seminal
in bringing Crew Resource Management into aviation, to work on the application of human factors teamwork
and communication training into healthcare.
MARK PASQUALE, MBA
Mr. Pasquale is the Chief Executive Officer of Missouri Health Connection. As an executive leader, Mr.
Pasquale has nearly 30 years of Information Technology experience, the last 16 completely focused on the
strategic analysis, operational management, development, delivery and support of IT solutions for the
healthcare industry. Executive team member of a large-scale fully integrated healthcare delivery system
partnering with other executive leaders to provide organizational guidance and leadership in conjunction
with a full spectrum of quality IT services to multiple hospitals, physician clinics and a health plan. Leadership
responsibilities have included a continuous record of achievement within progressive levels and areas of IT
management including technology infrastructure, application development, systems implementation,
customer service, strategic planning and financial management.

SAM PETTYJOHN, MPH
Sam Pettyjohn is the Health Literacy Programs Manager at Health Literacy Missouri. He oversees the Health
Environment Assessment (HEA) Team and is the lead trainer. Over his tenure at HLM, he has delivered
trainings and talks on Health Literacy, Verbal Communication strategies, and Cultural Competency to health
care professionals across the United States. Pettyjohn earned his MPH from Saint Louis University in 2009,
and has held several positions at HLM since its incorporation.

Stephen G. Post, Ph.D., is a philosopher, public speaker, professor of preventive medicine, and best-selling author
who has taught at the University of Chicago Medical School, Fordham University-Marymount, Case Western
Reserve University School of Medicine (1988-2008), and Stony Brook University School of Medicine (2008-). He is
an elected Fellow of the Hastings Center and a Senior Scholar of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown
University. Post is Founding Director (2008) of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and
Bioethics at Stony Brook University School of Medicine (www.stonybrook.edu/bioethics) in the Department of
Preventive Medicine. He is an elected member of both the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and the New York
Academy of Medicine.
FELICIANO “PELE” YU, JR, MD, MSHI, MSPH, FHIMSS
Dr. Feliciano “Pele” Yu, Jr., is a pediatrician with expertise in health informatics and health services research. He is
the Chief Medical Information Officer at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor at the
Department of Pediatrics, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Yu received a Bachelor of Science
degree in Biology at the University of the Philippines and his medical degree from the University of the East
RMMC School of Medicine (Philippines). He finished his pediatric residency training at the Children’s Hospital of
Wisconsin (Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee) in 1996. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Health
Informatics and Public Health, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Diplomat of the American
Board of Pediatrics, and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems, as well as a
Fellow of the Health Information Management Systems Society. Dr. Yu’s primary focus lies in the intersection of
health informatics, outcomes research and quality of care. He has authored several peer-reviewed papers and
abstracts on the subject.
