Chop and Slash LLP. st 1490 31 St. Suite 15, Longview, Montana 79432 Phone: (809)564-5900 Fax: (809)465-8528 April 18,2014 Mr. Thomas Schwartz, Mayor City of Augusta, Oregon 1325 Main St. Office 100 Augusta, Oregon 69875 Dear Mayor Schwartz, We at Chop and Slash have read your request for proposal in the "The Thompson Times". We specialize in quick, efficient, and cost effective landscape care. This proposal will show you that Chop and Slash is the safest, most up-to-date, and lowest cost service. We can offer bid price of $30,400 with $23,040 labor cost included. We know what we have to offer can make a difference in how your city looks. Our Company Chop and Slash was founded in 1957 by Mark Wigbo. He started by mowing his neighbor's lawns. He dominated the lawn care market within 10 years. We continue his passion by offering low cost services with the same results as our high cost competitors. We help pave the way for other lawn care service, because we have use the most advance equipment available. Our Plan Bellow are two charts to explain the amount of people on each site, the amount of mowers on each site, and the time table for mowing. Staff and Equipment People On Each Site Mowing Equipment on Each site Safety Mowers Highway Median 10 4 4 Park 7 9 9 Golf Course 5 10 10 Mowing Times Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Highway Median N/A N/A N/A N/A 12pm-4pm N/A N/A Park N/A 6am- 10am N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A Golf Course 6am-10am N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A Our staff and equipment amounts are based on a survey of the mowing sites. We would require a large safety crew on the highway because of increased tourist traffic this time of the year. We would also require a large amount of mowers on the golf course because of its complexity. The times that are listed are not permanently set. You may move times if you want. However, we chose these certain times to avoid vehicle and foot traffic. It is important that the Golf Course be mowed on 1 Chop and Slash Proposal April 27, 2014 Sunday mornings. We would chose Sunday because the course wouldn't open until 11 am. Mowing while the course is closed should prevent our services from interfering with any golfers. Cost We know that cost is a major factor when performing services for a small town. We are one of the lowest cost lawn services in the nation. We stick to our budget. We have been $265 under budget, on average, over the last 10 years with 25 different clients. We take pride in our ability to finish under budget. We hope to continue this trend with your city. All of our prices are based on four characteristics: usage fees, fuel, safety crews, and mowing crews. We have visited the sites and designed the following two budget charts: High Way Median Park Golf Course Total Equipment and Maintenance Usage Fee Total Fee Fee Per Week $320 $20 $720 $45 $800 $50 Fuel Cost Total Fee Fee Per Week $960 $60 $2160 $135 $2400 $150 $7,360 Our usage fee covers all costs related to maintenance. This cost ensures that our equipment will efficiently and safely complete the job. Each piece of equipment requires only $5 a day to maintain. Our fuel cost covers all expenses for gas and oil. The oil is used to lubricate moving parts on the equipment. The cost for fuel requires an average of $15 a day. Labor Safety Crew Mowing Crew Total Fee Hours Fee Per Hour Total Fee Hours Fee Per Hour High Way Median $5,120 64 $80 $2,048 64 $32 Park $3,584 64 $56 $4,608 64 $72 Golf Course $2,560 64 $40 $5,120 64 $80 Total Labor Hours Total Labor Cost 384 $23,040 Our safety crew cost helps to prevent accidents. The crew picks up objects and surveys the area before each job. Finally, the mowing crew cost is used for lawn mower operators. The mower’s primary job is to efficiently and safely mow the terrain. The price bellow shows the total price for the bid: Total Bid $30,400 2 Chop and Slash Proposal April 27, 2014 Past Jobs Over the past 10 years we worked with 25 different clients. Our clients range from The City of New York to Lewisville Missouri. Lewisville has a population of 4,000. In 2009, our company took a contract with the City of New York. Our duty was to mow and trim Central Park. They have allowed us to use them as a reference. If you would like to hear of our great work you can call the New York City Planning Office at: (902)793-3000 In 2010, our company worked with the City of Lewisville Missouri. We worked with them for three years until they were annexed by St. Louis. The jobs included mowing three parks and two major freeways. They awarded our President, Mr. Wigbo, the key to the city to show their appreciation of our work in 2012. We also have won multiple awards in lawn care and customer service: Chop and Slash Best Lawn Care Customer Service Awarded in 2013 Completely Satisfied Clients 10 Years Running Best Lawn Care Company in 2011 Safety Chop and Slash's main priority has always been safety. In 1960, we were one of the first lawn companies to install guards on our mowers. Today we continue our mission to keep your community and environment safe. Our safety crew has been trained by the mower manufacture, OSHA, and is required to attend all 3 national safety conventions. Our safety crews main jobs is to place cones to direct traffic, pick up small objects that could become projectiles, and to survey for wildlife that could be effected by our mowers. When working onsite at your locations our team would keep things safe. For instance, our team has already begun a safety plan for mowing your highway: A-Team: Direct traffic away from mowers and lay cones. Also divert pedestrians. B-Team: Pick up objects that may become projectiles and injure people or drivers. C-Team: Check for wildlife especially near the wooded area at the 93rd over pass. These three teams would do similar jobs on the other two sites. Nevertheless, we know that tourism is your city's main profit. We want to ensure that our work will drive even more tourism into your town and keep current tourist safe. 3 Chop and Slash Proposal April 27, 2014 Safety (cont’) Not only does our team ease safety concerns our equipment does as well. All of our mowers are John Deere 1600T Wide Area Mowers. These mowers come equipped with an on board diagnostic. John Deere says this about their diagnostic system: “The system allows for quick sensor safety checks and avoids downtime.” The sensors three capabilities: Sophisticated on board Diagnostic Screen 1. Diver Awareness- Measures 20 aspects of driving and alerts the driver when they need to take a break. 2. Obstruction- Sounds an alarm when an object is higher than one foot and in front of the mower. 3. Oncoming Mower Alert- Warns driver when another mower is too close to avoid collision. These are just some of the safety features that our mowers have. We will discuss more about our mowers performance in the next section of this proposal. Equipment Chop and Slash has come a long way since our first push mower in 1957. Today we use only John Deere 1600t Wide Area mowers. The photo on the right shows Mr. John driving the 1600t. The picture should show you the quality of our mowers. These wide area mowers are considered to be one of the best mowers for almost any terrain. These mowers have exceptional capabilities, as stated by Deere: Thomas John using the Deere 1600t “There are other wide area mowers available but none that offer the 1600T’s combination of incredibly high torque (159 Nm), advanced impact protection, flexibility of mowing configurations and the industry’s only top-draw cooling system. So not only can this mower handle extremely high volume but it can keep mowing continuously hour after hour, day after day.” The mowers allow us to finish jobs fast while saving fuel. Overall it efficiently and safely saves you money and the hassle of long completion times. Conclusion We hope that what we presented can convince you to choose Chop and Slash. We know we can offer one of the lowest prices but still deliver a quality outcome. If you have any questions about our team or our services, call us at : (809)564-5900.
