Writing a Letter About Hardships of the Depression
During this past week, you learned about ordinary Americans who experienced the Great
Depression. You will use the information from the presentations to write a letter to Eleanor
Roosevelt describing the hardships people endured during the Depression.
Your letter must have the following:
• An appropriate date, salutation, and closing.
• A description of the hardships people faced during the Depression and the ways in which they
endured those hardships. (Avoid a laundry list -focus on several key ideas. I highly
encourage you revisit 2-3 of the readings to write your letter.)
• A conclusion summarizing your thoughts about how ordinary Americans endured the
hardships they faced during this time period.
• Twelve point font, Times New Roman, 1.5 spaced, 1 – 1 ½ pages. 15 Project Points.
