LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
2015-2016
Brimfield Area Health Services Scholarship – Scholarships awarded for student(s) pursuing a
career in a human health field. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books or supplies
required for course instruction in an accredited license or certification program or institution of
higher education. The full amount must be used within one year of the award. The essay should
explain why you want a career in the health field.
Brimfield Bank Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Brimfield High
School senior pursuing their education at Illinois Central College or other nearby community
college. The scholarship will be split over four consecutive semesters of study. In order to
remain eligible for the scholarship, the recipient must earn 12 hours of credit each semester and
maintain a “C” average.
Brimfield Community Dream Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to graduating
seniors of Brimfield High School. The scholarship applicants will be judged on academic
achievement, financial need, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal
essays.
Brimfield Education Association Scholarship – This scholarship is intended for students
planning on entering the field of Education.
BHS Alumni Scholarship – Scholarship will be awarded to graduating seniors of BHS. The
applicant needs to include a resume highlighting community involvement, leadership in school,
and academic achievement. Answer essay question “How has Brimfield High School prepared
me to make a positive impact on the world in which we live.” The applicant must have a B
average.
Cynthia J. Fuller Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a female
graduate of Brimfield High School. She must have participated in high school athletics and have
at least a “B” average. The scholarship can be used at any college or junior college. Cindy was a
graduate of Brimfield High School and coached girl’s softball and Biddy Basketball. She was
also Vice President and Cashier at the Brimfield Bank with an AIB degree in Bank Operations
from Illinois Central College. Therefore, preference will be shown to those who will be majoring
in Banking, Finance, or Accounting. Required: verification of participation in sports. Contributor
to the scholarship: Brimfield Bank.
Henrietta Memler Memorial Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors
of Brimfield High School. The scholarship applicants will be judged on academic achievement,
financial need, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal essays.
Tom Harmon Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior
of Brimfield High School. Preference will be shown to those entering Illinois Central College
and/or an agricultural-related program, but not a requirement. Applicants will be judged on
academic achievement, financial need, and personal essays.
Weaver Family Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors of Brimfield
High School. The scholarship applicants will be judged on academic achievement, financial
need, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal essays.
William Cinnamon Memorial Vocational Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a
graduating senior of Brimfield High School who participated in FFA. Applicants need to answer
the following question: "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve”
– What does this FFA Creed mean to you and how can you apply it in your future?
DAR Spoon River Chapter Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating
female senior of Brimfield High School. Applicants need to write a 500-700 word essay on
“What College Means to Me.”
