In2scienceUK offers students from low income backgrounds currently completing science AS levels the
opportunity to work alongside practising scientists for a 2 week period, giving students an insight into
scientific research.
This non-profit organisation works in partnership with Universities to leverage the commitment, passion and
experience of scientists to ensure the brightest pupils, regardless of wealth have the opportunity to
experience research science first hand. Placements will be highly valued by future employees and
admissions tutors at centres of higher education and enable scientists to inspire the next generation.
Would you like a placement?
This programme is only for students with a passion for science and engineering who are from schools which
cater for students from low income families. Students on the scheme should have



Received Education maintenance allowance (EMA), a bursary or Free School Meals during
their education and/or
Have no parental experience of HE (unless overseas or in the last 5 years)
Have a minimum of 6 Bs at GCSE and passes at Maths and English.
Following the completion of application forms, students will be interviewed by the in2scienceUK coordinator.
What will I do during the placement?
You will be placed for be 2 weeks in a University during your summer holiday. During the placement you
will work on cutting edge research with top research Scientists. You will learn a number of scientific
techniques, attend workshops and complete a small written report. This experience will be invaluable to you
in pursuing your future interests in science. Placements are funded at £50/week. We are looking for students
interested in Science and Engineering to apply.

application form/ or straight away.
What next?
If your application is successful you will be asked to come for an interview to meet the in2scienceuk coordinator so we can learn more about your science interests and you can learn more about the scheme.
