Tri Theta Paint Crew 101 This will be the best year of your high school life, but it will be a very busy one for you as well! Please read the following carefully, as it contains all the “need to know” info for the fall semester of Tri Theta. START PAINTING SIGNS EARLY! Your goal is to have as many, if not all, signs finished BEFORE school begins on Monday, August 25. Supplies have been ordered, and should be in by the middle of July. Once they are ready for pick up, you will receive an email and Remind from Mrs. Singley that will provide instructions as to how they may be picked up. The Paint Crew Leader (PCL) will be responsible for storing and distributing all painting supplies, organizing the painting of the signs, and making sure arrangements are made each week for signs to be hung. Note - the PCL is NOT responsible for painting all of the signs herself!!!!!!! The boys have been divided into ten groups of 5-6*, to match up with our ten groups of girls. You will need to paint the following signs: * While most groups have 3-4 boys as of this email, more boys will be added the closer we get to football season. Individual Paint Crew Leaders will be notified as boys are added. Home Games Each SENIOR Player gets a sign in their yard by The 4 home games are: the Thursday night prior to the game, unless the Memorial game is played on Thursday (* Elsik), in which Tomball (Homecoming) case, signs need to be put up on Wednesday. Spring Woods For those players who live in Magnolia West apartments/townhomes, their signs must be put up in the cafeteria. Each Tri-Theta Group will have at the most 5 Seniors players. Away Games Each paint Group paints one large sign with all of The 6 away games are: the football players names and numbers to be Elsik hung in the cafeteria or hallways on Thursday Ridgepoint prior to the game Magnolia Brenham Tomball Memorial Waller Run-Thru Signs for Each Tri Theta Group will be assigned to a Football Games football game to paint 2 run-thru signs for the game. Please plan on being at the game at least thirty minutes before kickoff, and staying until the second half’s kick off as well. Varsity Players that are These underclassmen players will have 3 yard The underclassmen varsity players: not Seniors: signs painted for them Memorial Game Homecoming Game Playoff Games (will use same sign during the playoffs) The total (approximate) amount of signs for the district season (does not include playoff games) that need to be painted: 3 Senior Varsity Players 4 Home Games 12 Yard Signs 2 Away Games 1 sign with all names and #’s 2 Hall Signs Run-Thru Signs 1 game – need 2 signs (one for each half) 2 Run-Thru Signs Underclassmen Varsity Players As players are moved up, will be added to 3 Yard Signs groups Total Signs to Paint Per Tri Theta Group: 31 Signs This is a HUGE task that is best completed before school starts!! It takes the entire group working to complete all the signs, and how you choose to organize your group is up to you. Ultimately, it is the Paint Crew Leader’s responsibility to make sure that all signs are painted and put up by the guidelines listed above - however it is NOT her responsibility to paint the signs by herself!!!!! Have fun while you paint and hang signs! Please take the following guidelines into consideration as you work with your group. The groups of boys were randomly assigned in the interest of fairness. You may not “switch” players with another group. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!! While it is optimal that your entire group get together to paint, in some cases this can prove difficult, particularly over the summer. If you find that you’re having difficulty getting everyone together, consider assigning signs to “mini-groups”. The PCL is NOT responsible for painting all of the signs - just for making sure they are done and hung up in time! To that end, while it would be great for her to be at every sign painting “party”, it is not necessary! Once a sign is painted and dry, roll it up and secure the roll with paper clips. It is a good idea to write the date it will need to be hung, as well as the player’s name on it on the upper outside corner. Be sure to store the painted signs in a safe, dry location (this does NOT include Mrs. Singley’s or Mrs. Sharp’s classrooms!). It would be a shame to do all of that work, only to have the signs damaged, and have to be remade. If your group would like to paint in the snack bar area, or other area of the school, you MUST have a drop cloth (plastic or cloth) to put under the sign!!!!! It is your responsibility to provide the drop cloth (you can get them fairly inexpensively through Ace or WalMart). YOU ABSOLUTELY MAY NOT PAINT ANYTHING AT THE SCHOOL WITHOUT A DROP CLOTH!!!!!!!! We are looking forward to next year and are here to assist you, but not to run Tri-Theta. You are encouraged to try to problem solve on your own as much as possible. Please let us know if you need an intervention - otherwise, we will assume that everything is going well. Painting Information Each group will receive: Paper: One roll of butcher paper for the yard signs. For the Run-Thru signs, please see Mrs. Singley for the paper. Paint: 32 ounces bottles of tempra in the following colors and amounts: 3 – Green 3 – Yellow 3 – Black 1 – Red 1 – Blue 1 – Orange 1 – White 1 – Brown 1 – Magenta A good way to save paint is by adding a little bit of water to it! If you need more, you may purchase some at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, or Texas Art Supply. This will be at your expense. Also, check out Home Depot and Lowes to see the paint that they have on sale due to incorrect color mixing – great deals for a lot of paint. Brushes: 4 Bags of 9 black sponge brushes of different sizes. If you rinse these out, they can be reused. Tape: Rolls of clear tape to attach the signs together. Signs: Home Game Yard Signs: Include the player’s name and number using the Pep Rally Theme. The signs should be 6 feet X 15 feet (Tape two 15 feet lengths of paper together). The Paint Group Leader needs to contact the player’s parent to find out where the wire is located to hang the sign and let them know the approximate time your group will be hanging the signs. Players who live in apartments or townhomes might need to have their sign displayed at Stratford instead of their home. Please contact the player’s parent(s) to see where they would like the signs hung. Away Game Hall/Cafeteria Signs: One hall sign (6 feet X 6 feet) for each away game with all of the player’s names and football numbers Run-Thru Signs for Football Games At least 6 girls from your Tri Theta group will be at the game at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the game (usually 6:30 pm) to attach the signs to the poles, and then hold the sign for the boys to run through. Dimensions of signs: 10 feet tall X 20 feet wide (you will have a two foot “overlap” when you tape the two 20’ lengths together. The side that faces the field should have some sort of spirit message (it does not necessarily have to reflect the pep rally theme, but should somehow tie into who we are playing). The side that faces the team should have some sort of inspirational message on it. The Stratford Booster club will bring the poles to each game, and will help you attach the signs to the poles General Guidelines for Signs: All signs must be in good taste. Avoid innuendos in regard to sex, race, drugs, and alcohol. Remember the student body, the faculty, and the community are all interested in your signs and look forward to seeing them. Signs deemed inappropriate by your sponsors will result in disciplinary action. Use the pep rally themes when painting the yard signs. Signs are usually hung on Thursday night before game between 5 pm – 9 pm. For the yard signs, your Paint Group Leader will need to call the player’s parents in advance to find out where the wire is located for the sign, and then call each time that a sign is going to be put up.
