Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), founder of the New America Schools (NAS) Network will keynote the graduation ceremonies. Polis founded the New America Schools Network (NAS) as an innovative system of public charter high schools dedicated to serving a unique population – new immigrants, English language learners, and academically underserved students. Its mission is to empower these students with the educational tools and support they need to maximize their potential, succeed and live the American dream. The New America Schools opened its doors on the former Denver Lowry Air Force Base in the 2004-2005 school year to address the growing needs of these students. Over the past 10 years, the New America Schools Network has grown from one campus graduating 17 students in 2005 to its current graduation class of 310 students who represent five NAS-Network high schools. The five high schools that have been chartered under the New America Schools Network banner include the Lowry campus with 454 students, the Jefferson County, CO campus with 322 students, the Thornton, CO campus with 405 students, the Albuquerque, NM campus with 413 students, and the Las Cruces, NM campus with 327 students, for a total of 1921 students who come from 40 different countries. The Jared Polis Family Foundation and NAS Board members will grant three scholarships to graduating students to continue their post-secondary education. ##### New America Schools
