Aug. 8 9:00 am @ SKC Feast of Saint Anne – July 26, 2015 Anne is the wife of Joachim and the mother of Mary. She is the grandmother according to the flesh of our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Her name means “grace” or “the gracious one” or “the loving one.” Prayer to Saint Anne. With love, I come to you St. Anne. By your virtues and holiness, you merited from God the favor of giving life to her who is the Treasure of all graces, the Most Holy Virgin. Receive me, good St. Anne, into the number of your true clients, for so I profess myself and wish to remain throughout my entire life. Obtain for me, from God, the power to imitate those virtues with which you are so plentifully endowed. Help me to know and regret my sins bitterly. Obtain for me the grace of active love for Jesus and Mary, and resolution to fulfill the duties of my state of life with faithfulness. Save me from every danger that confronts me in life, and help me at the hour of my death. Amen. 2015 Annual Leave I am away for 3 weeks, from the weekend of 25/26 of July until the 18th of August. We hear this question twice today and each time it is answered with a lesson in faith. Elisha’s servant doubts that 20 loaves of bread and a few heads of grain will be enough to feed 100 men. But Elisha re-assures him, saying, “Give it to the people and let them eat, for thus says the Lord, “They shall eat and have some left.’” In John’s Gospel, Jesus sees a large crowd gathering and tests the disciples, asking where they might find bread to feed the crowds. The disciples doubt they’ll be able to do so, and so Jesus again teaches them to trust that he will provide. We can all recall times when company was coming and, doubting ourselves, we ran to the store to buy a few extra items. Inevitably, the last-minute groceries weren’t needed – in fact, there was plenty left over for the next day. So it is with God’s banquet: we can be confident there will always be more than enough. Believing that God will take care of our needs takes the qualities Paul lists in his letter to the Ephesians: humility, gentleness and patience. When we trust that God will provide, we can say with the Psalmist; “You open your hand to feed us, Lord; you satisfy all our needs.” Melissa Martz, Kitchener, ON. SPECIAL INTENTION OF POPE FRANCIS FOR THE MONTH OF JULY WE PRAY FOR OUR SICK AND DECEASED BROTHERS AND SISTERS God Our Father, during this month of July, we lift up all those who serve in politics. May those who have political responsibility at all levels of society promote the highest form of charity. We also pray for our impoverished brothers and sisters in Latin America. May Latin American Christians bear witness to Your love for the poor and contribute to a more Christ-like society. St. Kateri, pray for healing for our brothers and sisters who are suffering, especially Henry Arquette, John Bigtree, Bernadine Herne, Carl Cook, Laurie Connors, Alex Arquette, Sandra Terrance, Debbie Bero, Carol Caldwell Halsted, Nancy Arquette, Clyde Cree, Norris Thompson, Clara King, Margie Lazore, Carl Tarbell and Mary Jackson. Help those undergoing surgery and those receiving treatment for cancer, diabetes, and addictions. Console the families who are suffering the loss of their loved ones. A SUMMER BLESSING May you walk with God this summer, in whatever you do, wherever you go. Walking with God means walking with honesty and with courage, walking with love and respect and concern for the feelings of others. May you talk to God this summer, every day and in every situation. Talking with God means...praying words of praise for the beauty of creation, saying prayers of thanks for family and friends and good times, asking God's help in all your decisions, expressing your sorrow when you have failed. May you walk with God every day this summer. Amen. The months of July and August is a time of reflection and relaxation so that the mind, body and soul can rest and rejuvenate for the new Pastoral year. Therefore, there will not be any ministry meetings during those months. Please call the rectory for urgent issues. Eternal rest grant unto Carmen Tarbell and Evelyn Delormier. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ATTENTION ALL COMMISIONED LAY MINISTERS!
