Ancient Egypt Project The Basics WHO: Working in self-chosen groups of 2 or 3 WHAT: Choose one of the project topics listed below Research, informational poster/power point, and a model/art work 3-5 minute presentation WHERE: Both in class and at home, if needed WHEN: To be completed over the course of 2 1/2 weeks, January 13th –January 30th Presentations will be held February 2nd -February 3rd WHY: To develop a deeper understanding of Ancient Egyptian culture Project Option Details Research Poster/Power Point Model/Art -Draw a detailed HOW mummies are made; WHY MUMMY mummies are made; and DETAILS about your specific mummy including time, location made and found, etc. Display important researched information in a picture (no smaller than 8 ½ x 11) -Create a model mummy using paper clear, organized, and mache, cloth, creative way newspaper, etc. (Be creative!) -Draw a detailed HOW pyramid was made; WHY pyramid was made; and PYRAMID DETAILS about your pyramid including location, dates, pharaoh in charge, strategies for building, etc. Display important researched information in a picture (no smaller than 8 ½ x 11) -Create a model pyramid using sugar clear, organized, and cubes, cardboard, creative way wood, etc. (Be creative!) Include NAME, WHAT they were god/goddess of, GOD/GODDESS SYMBOL/HEADDRESS and attire, POWERS or SKILLS, family connections, background story, and any other interesting facts -Draw a detailed Display important researched information in a picture (no smaller than 8 ½ x 11) -Create a model god/goddess using clear, organized, and construction paper, creative way dolls, masks, etc. (Be creative!) When “googling”: - be specific in what you are searching for (i.e. “King Tut facts,” NOT “mummies”) - look at given answers carefully: read the description given, check the website address, and make an educated guess whether it will have what you need or not - DON’T get “lost” looking at other fun stuff; stay focused on your task!!! When researching, look for: - well known companies or organizations (i.e. National Geographic; Smithsonian Institute; encyclopedias; etc.) - website addresses ending in .edu (coming from a college/university or higher education) - credible sources: Do they know what they are talking about??? - Remember: Some websites are specific to one topic, some can be used for all three.
