The purpose of the System is to promote cooperation and coordination of library collections and services so as to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of all residents of the Orange County area. The Executive Council is comprised of the Directors of the member libraries. SLS Committees are comprised of representatives of member libraries. December 29th, 1989 The Santiago Library System (formerly OCCCLS) is established as a CLSA agency. July 1st, 2009 The Southern California Library Cooperative is organized, incorporating both SLS and the Metropolitan Cooperative Library System of Los Angeles County. June 30th, 2013 Nine Orange County libraries withdraw from SCLC and reestablish SLS (during this process, the temporary working name of Cooperative Libraries of Orange County – CLOC – is used).
