ORDERING COMMENCEMENT/CONVOCATION REGALIA
Per the USC Registrar’s Office, the following is the University’s recommendation regarding
graduation regalia for the College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy graduates. These items are
available at the University Bookstore in the Russell House.
The other bookstores will also have these items, but there may be some slight variations in colors
or materials for items purchased at other stores.
Gown:
Doctoral gown which has the three velveteen chevrons on each sleeve.
Cap/Tassel:
The tassel should be the olive green pharmacy tassel; there is a gold doctoral
tassel also available, but the olive green should be selected by the Doctor of
Pharmacy graduates.
Hood:
The Doctor of Pharmacy professional degree hood is olive green and garnet in
color; the blue Doctor of Philosophy hood should NOT be purchased.
Honor Cords:
On the morning of the Convocation Ceremony, SCCP will provide gold honor
cords to those graduating with honors. Graduation with honors is determined by
USC and will be based on USC system GPA (including SCCP coursework)
and the cumulative GPA calculated on the basis of all work in the student’s
college career. GPA requirements are as follows: SUMMA CUM LAUDEGPA of 3.950 – 4.000; MAGNA CUM LAUDE-GPA of 3.750 – 3.949; CUM
LAUDE – GPA of 3.500 – 3.749.
Some of the pharmacy professional organizations, such as Rho Chi, Phi Lambda
Sigma, ASP, etc. may also provide recognition cords to graduates, but this
process will be handled through the individual organizations.
