Course Schedule: This course studies the techniques and procedures for identifying and
forecasting fashion trends and evaluates current trends found in lifestyles, business, readyto-wear, and home fashion. Students will learn to recognize and analyze predictive lifestyle
and business trends that affect retail merchandising and marketing decisions.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The students will be able to:
1. Analyze behavior trends in business, politics, and the economy as they relate to
consumerism.
2. Compare and contrast current trends in clothing, accessories, hairstyles, makeup
and adornment found in local target markets. Produce a presentation board
illustrating current trends from a specific location.
3. Create a forecast of a specific clothing classification in a retail venue using predictive
websites, publications, and information from guest speakers to provide color,
fabrication, silhouette, and detail predictions that are one year ahead.
4. Identify, analyze, and evaluate current and predictive ready-to-wear (RTW) garment
trends by quality and structure.

4. LATE WORK ACCEPTED @ 50% CREDIT or with PRIOR
Instructor approval. Two-week time limit.
5. Academic honesty policy enforced.
6. Three absences will lower semester grade by one letter grade.
7. It is YOUR responsibility to drop this class in a timely manner.
