Plymouth School of Creative Arts Pre School
We are very excited about the opening of our Pre School and
appreciate that many of you are keen to be updated about our
developments.
We have completed our consultation, and we will now feedback to
the Secretary of State and it is very likely that they will approve our
case. We are pushing to have this agreed as soon as possible so
that we can open our doors on September 8th for a transition and
settling in week.
Our Pre School will be an exploratory Pre School; children will learn
through hands on experiences. We will make and discover in a
learning environment that is tuned into, and meets the needs of all.
Staff will develop meaningful and positive relationships, enabling
children to feel nurtured, safe and valued. Our Pre School will be a
studio, fully integrated and part of our school. Our children will play,
make, discover and learn in a stimulating, nurturing and loving
environment.
Staffing
Our Pre School Studio will be led by Kirsty. Kirsty will be teaching in
the Pre School for 2 days and Claire for 3 days. We will be staffed
by qualified teachers, teaching assistants and assistants. As with
the rest of our school, there will often be students, volunteers and
visitors working in the Pre School.
Our Day
Your child will be able to attend morning, afternoon or all day
sessions. Children can also access breakfast and after school club,
which will make up the full day session. Please note there will be
limited spaces in wrap around care for Pre School aged children.

We will be asking that children build up to a minimum of 12 hours a
week. This is to ensure we get to know your child and your child
feels comfortable and secure playing and learning at Pre School.
Dress Code
We will be asking Pre School children to wear practical clothing in
plain red, black or white. This is similar to the dress code of our
school and ensures that all children are seen to be a part of our
community.
Creating Individuals, Making Futures
When can your child start and how do you apply
Your child can start Pre School in the year before they would
normally start school. This is the academic year (September to
August) in which they turn four.
Admissions Policy
If you wish to apply please can you fill in the application form using
our smart survey http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/PreSchool/
If we are over subscribed we will apply the same admissions critia
as our school. Please see

Settling in week: 8th September – 11th September
It is really important that children and families feel connected to our
studio and staff before starting Pre School. Being able to visit the
space, play, explore and get to know some of the staff is really
important in building connections and relationships. For this reason
we are inviting you and your child to a stay and play session before
they start Pre School. Once your space has been confirmed, please
contact the school to arrange your settling in visit.
Kind regards
