International Society for Utilitarian Studies (ISUS) 14th International Conference 6th to 8th July 2016 – Lille (France) Utilitarianism and Institutional Design www.isus2016.fr Call for Papers The 14th Conference of the International Society for Utilitarian Studies (ISUS) will be held for the first time in France on 6th to 8th July 2016 at Lille Catholic University. The general conference will be preceded by a Summer School dedicated to Master and PhD Students on 4th and 5th July (registration opened through the website). It will be announced separately. Students participating to this summer school are very welcome to submit a paper to the Conference. The International Society for Utilitarian Studies – ISUS – provides a forum for scholarly debate and research on utilitarianism and its historical development, and on its present-day relevance in such fields as ethics, politics, law, economics, and public policy. ISUS also publishes the journal Utilitas, a leading international review presenting original research in all aspects of utilitarian theory and encompassing the disciplines of moral philosophy, economics, psychology, political theory, intellectual history, law and jurisprudence. Registration for and participation in the Conference is open to both members and non-members of ISUS. All registrants and participants at the Conference will be added to the ISUS membership list, unless they request otherwise. There is no fee for membership of ISUS. ISUS XIV welcomes papers and proposed panels on all subjects related to utilitarianism and in all disciplines and not limited to its general theme Utilitarianism and Institutional Design. The expected keynote speakers are: Krister Bykvist (Stockholm University) Sarah Conly (Bowdoin University) Raffaele Marchetti (Università Guido Carli) Tim Mulgan (University of Auckland and University of St-Andrews) The whole submission process (abstract and/or panel) goes through the Conference website: www.isus2016.fr. This website will be at the heart of your ISUS experience. The Committee of ISUS will award a prize of 500€ for the best paper presented at the Conference by a graduate student.
