Student Alumni Board (Please read the following before beginning application) What is SAB? It is not just another organization to take up a line on your resume...it is fun, it is work, and it is well worth your time! Student Alumni Board is the core governing body of the Student Alumni Association and has served as the student liaison group for the OSU Alumni Association since 1987. Our activities focus on serving members of the Alumni Association, promoting university spirit and preserving OSU traditions. What to expect: First, expect to be a part of a fun group with some of the best leaders on campus! The importance of SAB requires committed and dedicated members. The time commitment expected is a minimum of 12 hours of volunteer time per semester and 15 hours of meeting time per year, totaling 39 hours per academic year. Why Should I Become a Member: We repeat, NOT to take up a line on your resume. SAB takes pride in serving the Alumni Association and promoting a lifelong connection to the university. Becoming a member allows you to promote and support OSU and the Alumni Association. We serve at many events throughout the year; involved in promoting and marketing the Alumni Association and what it offers to students and alumni. This also means great connections and networking opportunities for our members – we help with the annual Bedlam Blood Drive, assist in gaining Student Alumni Association memberships, visit Chapters across the state, and host many other events that keep OSU traditions alive! Who we are looking for: We are continually seeking members who believe in the traditions and a lifelong connection to OSU, and who want to serve as liaisons in bridging students and alumni to the past, present and future of OSU through the Alumni Association. We seek students who put Student Alumni Board and the goals of our organization first, and make time to serve the needs of Student Alumni Association along with the Alumni Association. Student Alumni Association: Student Alumni Board serves as the governing body for the Student Alumni Association and acts as a liaison between the Alumni Association and the student body. Student Alumni Board designs and executes activities and events each semester for the Student Alumni Association members such as BEAT Shirts, Cowboys and Conversations and Sundaes on Tuesday. SAB members work to promote and market Student Alumni Association memberships. Chapter Events: Student Alumni Board assists the Alumni Association by attending chapter meetings and events to promote the Alumni Association. Our members work with the Chapters Director to promote OSU around the nation. Traditions: Student Alumni Board members are encouraged to foster a spirit of pride and tradition for our university among the student body. This is done by hosting Orange Fridays, marketing BEAT shirts to Student Alumni Association members and participating in campus events such as the Homecoming Parade and the Ring Ceremony. SAB also hosts a Senior Farewell Toast each spring in recognition of the current graduating class. SAB is currently in the process of launching a new OSU Traditions program on the OSU campus promoting all things orange.
