Workshop Number: 3 Title: "Opportunities to be Active" Workshop: What works in terms of physical activity promotion/signposting. Workshop Number: 4 Title: "7 Minute CBT: Helping People who are Stuck in a Rut" Workshop: Self-managing diabetes often involves people making major changes to wellestablished habits and people can get stuck in a rut without even realising. Having seven minute consultations can be a challenge for clinicians who want to make a difference but using some tools from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), can help. In this interactive workshop, you’ll be introduced to a CBT technique called the 5 areas that can be used in a few minutes. This is known to be effective to help people with diabetes help them understand why they engage in unhelpful behaviours and also identify ways to change longstanding routines. Workshop Number: 6 Title: "Structured Education ‘ What‘s It ALL about….?" What does structured diabetes education really mean to people living with diabetes - Do they ‘Get it?’ The session will be informal comprising of a brief presentation looking at patients responses plus you will get to hear from 3 patients each with a different experience of ‘diabetes education’. Workshop Number: 11 Title: "New Education Programme for Type 1 Diabetes Patients on Basal Bolus Regime" Workshop: Provide insight into what the TIM course provides for patients with Type 1 diabetes. Workshop Number: 12 Title: "Tools of the Trade" Workshop: This is a interactive session to give you an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and try out a selection of meters and injectable pen devices used in Grampian. Workshop: It seems paradoxical but diabetes results in excessive fat deposition in the liver. Liver function test abnormalities are the norm rather than the exception in patients with diabetes. Interpretation of these tests is challenging especially in the setting of acronyms like ASH and NASH flying around (alcoholic steatohepatitis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis). This workshop is aimed at evaluating this complex relationship and simplifying our understanding on how to manage patients with abnormal liver function tests in our day to day practice. Workshop Number: 16 Title: The Ab Dabs of Foot Screening' Workshop: An exciting interactive workshop which reviews and discusses why screening of the diabetic foot is seen as the cornerstone of good diabetic foot management. In addition, this workshop will aim to provide excellent hints and tips on undertaking foot screening, as well as giving the delegate the opportunity to discuss any queries or concerns they may face within their daily practice. Workshop: This workshop offers an opportunity to hear about and discuss recent research that has explored the challenges that diverse health professionals face when working to “support self-management” among people with long term conditions. It will encourage you to reflect on the implications of different ways of thinking about such support for your approach to practice and for how you and others judge the “success” of your work with people with diabetes. Workshop Number: 18 Title: "Diabetes in Pregnancy: What Would St Vincent Say?" Workshop: Mainly trying to emphasise the usual - pre-pregnancy care, Type 2s also important, the tsunami of GDM and the need for family planning clinics to be about more than avoiding getting pregnant.... in a nutshell! A Potential Role for People with Diabetes?" Workshop: It has been well documented that people with diabetes more commonly experience clinical and subclinical levels of anxiety and depression, and that this is associated with poorer glycaemic control. Rebecca will describe the Beating the Blues programme which has recently been adopted in primary care in NHS Grampian and Andy will reflect on its potential utility for this clinical population.
