Wembley Junior Basketball Club Newsletter
Highlights
Hopefully everybody has made it through the school and Easter holidays ready and raring to go as
summer season finals are upon us. Teams have been registered for the coming winter season and
the club will hold a registration day and a number of coaching clinics for players and parents leading
into the new season.
As a Club we will again be fielding teams at both Altona and Westgate (Footscray) and we are
excited to announce that a number of new U8 & U10 teams have been formed.
Temporary Committee staff are required to help out until the AGM is held in July. If you are available
please notify the Committee.
Finally, a link is provided to a member survey. Please provide feedback so the Committee can look at
where you want the club to move.

Congratulations to the teams that have made finals this season. If you know somebody playing then
please show your support by attending the games and cheering them on.

Upcoming events
We have a number of events coming up prior to the next season. Please make sure you are aware of
these events and use these sessions to develop your child’s skills and your own understanding of the
game of basketball. Some sessions are for player development and others for parent understanding
of the rules and scoring systems.

This is an opportunity to get involved in the club and make sure your kids are ready to go for
the next season. We are looking for people to help out on the day so if you can assist then
please give a shout to secretary@wembleybasketball.com.au. The day will include:
Melbourne Tiger player appearance
Uniforms and fees payments and questions
Kids Basketball games/prizes

Committee Staff required
The Committee needs temporary staff to assist with organising events, registrations, logistics and
other general duties. With the Annual General Meeting due in July these positions are a great way to
get involved and see what the Committee is all about.
Annual General Meeting
The next AGM will be scheduled for July 2014. The Committee is considering compulsory attendance
by a representative from each team to ensure the club is supported and information is disseminated
back to teams appropriately. The AGM is an opportunity to get involved and see where the club is
heading.
Further details will be available closer to the date.
Member Survey
Please take the time to fill out the Member Survey to provide the Committee with feedback. We will
also be looking to conduct surveys with members during the year.

Discounts and Offers
Over the coming months the Committee will be looking to team up with local businesses to provide
value to members and discounted team building activities for Team Managers and Coaches to utilise.
The Committee will also be looking at how we can leverage the reach of the club to provide other
value to members and our kids. If you have services you would like to advertise then please contact
the Committee.
