The staff and I are extremely excited for the season to begin and cannot wait to meet all of the new sailors, and to welcome back the returning ones. I will be the Program Director for the 2013 season. I have worked as a sailing instructor since 2005 and have coached at all levels from beginner to high school teams, and have run several programs. I had the distinct honor or working at EBSF last fall and am thrilled to be returning for the summer season. I strongly encourage you to take a moment to come and introduce yourself to me in person as I would love to get to know the families of EBSF. We have a wonderful group of instructors and coaches working with us this summer who will be responsible for teaching your children both the fundamentals and intricacies of recreational and competitive sailing. Our goal for this summer is to provide your children with a safe and fun environment in which to learn to sail. The information within this parent manual will help us to achieve this goal. Please read thoroughly and contact us with any questions. Regards, Kelsey Crowther East Bay Sailing Foundation Program Director 3 MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to foster self-confidence through instruction in sailing, seamanship, and racing skills at appropriate levels in a safe and fun environment so that participants may enjoy the benefits of sailing for a lifetime. Will not act in a way that endangers themselves or others. Safety first. Will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on both themselves and EBSF 6 DISCIPLINE: Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately during their lessons and during any and all time that they are on Bristol Yacht Club Property. All behavioral incidents will be logged. 1st offense: Instructor will discuss the incident with the student and give them a verbal warning. The student’s parents will be called in for a conference to discuss both offenses and discuss how best to avoid future problems. 3rd offense: The situations will be reviewed carefully with the Program Director, the board and the student’s parents and may result in dismissal from EBSF Program.
